I would give this an 11 but the dial doesn't go that high.

This movie popped out at me on Amazon Prime. The title elicited a chuckle and the rolling narration, starting with Chapter 3 a la Star Wars, got me laughing. The movie hilariously parodies all of the characters of the Flash Gordon serials of the 1930s. Each time I thought I could stop laughing and catch my breath, something else started my up again. Spaceships that look like they were made out of Tinker Toys. Characters talking like Harvey Korman. Scientific holes that you can drive a truck through. Two scientists back on Earth named Dr Middleton and Dr Crabbe. I wonder if anybody else caught that. In the Flash Gordon serials Charles Middleton portrayed Emperor Ming, the Merciless, of the Planet Mongol and, of course, Buster Crabbe was Flash Gordon.

If you're a fan of Plan 9 From Outer Space and the like, you're gonna love this one.

Pleasantly surprised

I was laughing on a pretty regular basis. A captain who's going through self discovery, the world's first female professor who can't remain conscious, a boy-man side kick who won't die and a happy ending that just can't be beat. Goes to show you don't need a big budget to make a funny, entertaining film.

Clever, self aware, low budget and proud

This is my new favorite movie when I'm just relaxing. It wears it's budget on it's sleeve with pride, yet places it straight as a lazer shot, it's a love letter to an era of cinema with different world views which I feel this masterfully highlights, modernizes and then seems to like fun at its own modernization of old material and it becomes a type of humor cycle that's easy to fall into and just enjoy the ride of classic setup/modern punchline. .

Or maybe I'm overthinking it?..

Is that my cat I see on the big screen?

Most moc-sci-fi's are too campy and strain to the point you want to regurgitate. However, this presentation can hold its own and just happens to resemble space captains of the past.

Instead of forcing ridiculous words in iambic pentameter, we get refreshing updates in real English. Brittan can learn English form this presentation.

This is no superficial to save the world movie. We learn the importance of getting in touch with our feelings. If you miss that then ^&*%$& you.

Will the planet be saved?

Will the moon be saved?

Will we learn what really counts between people?

Wait, where is the snotty princes?

All the actors are exceptionally good at their craft.

We get to hear "The planets. OP.32"
