    Very entertaining

This film is funny and authentic but also very emotional and touching at times. I thoroughly enjoyed it and really connected to Clayton Nemrow's character, he was very accessible, entertaining and a great actor.

I thought it was made well and loved the simplicity of the setting.

    Definitely worth a watch!

    Good Watch

Surviving confession discusses a bold theme - role of confession without guilt.

All characters exhibit the same attitude towards life and the vacillations of protagonist's character trying to be true to his job and at the same time, fighting the belief systems in the modern world is portrayed well.

Amber brings freshness to the film. Her attitude towards the whole system of confessions and the way she deals with her own problem is heart touching.

The climax is the most effective part of the film. It was handled well.

All in All a good watch.

The truth and mind games can be shocking

I watch the movie without knowing the plot at all and I very recommend it. At the first scene, I thought that this movie is like another "slapstick comedy" about church's daily life out there. And I was hoping the first confessor build the light comedy nuance, and it did and I got the message. But the movie atmospheres changes for as the scene pass after scene, it builds my couriousity more and more. And you will not realise the changing atmospheres of this movie at all, because of your couriousity. It open my eyes about the truthfull of our public sociality, culture, and the innerself as a modern human as the believer. The acting is natural, exception for the young woman. I believe, she got driven out of the church from the first she behaving rude to the priest there.

    A nice little indie

I admit I caught this film because I know the director (full disclosure) but it's a genuinely nice piece of work, with funny dialogue and interesting ideas, especially considering it was produced on such a small budget. Bodes very well for future projects from Mr. Tibbenham. Kudos also to Clayton Nemrow, the beleaguered priest at the centre of the film. He's a charismatic actor, funny and compelling to watch, even when just in his little cloister--so important as he carries much of film.

    Exploration of human psychology

When a young woman visits a priest for a confession, the two start an unlikely conversation and the more it goes on, the more he feels conflicted with his faith and by the end he has his world turned upside down.

This is a surprising good movie. Dialogues constitute almost the entirety of the film and they are really well written, sustaining the dynamics among the characters. The dialogue between the priest and Amber, the young woman, is interspersed with different confessions, meaningful conversations with various characters that enrich the story. Small-scaled in term of movie-making, this is huge in term of exploration of human psychology and that makes some of the best cinema.

Challenged on love and life by Amber, the piest's faith falters. A confession without guilt seems ultimately to push him to reject his vows, seemingly having lost trust into this sacrament. Is confession still relevant in this modern world? Will the priest leave the Church? What is Amber motivation to look into confession? All these dynamics will find a satysfying conclusion rich in significance.

    Highly recommended.

    • Quotes

Father Morris: In my early days, I was excited about confession. In fact, I used to worry that I was too excited that I would derive some sort of sick pleasure in hearing confession that it'd be titillating in some way listening to people bare their souls. That I'd revel in it. That I'd chew on those morsel bits of gossip. I don't worry about that any more. Turns out I'm not a thirteen year old girl and gossip is not genuine gossip when it's firsthand. It's sterile, clinical. It's the difference between a striptease and dropping your pants in front of a doctor. I assume.
