Leo Woodall
Tuner (TIFF) Review: Leo Woodall has star quality in this quirky thriller
Leo Woodall
Plot: A piano tuner (Leo Woodall) with a rare hearing condition finds himself surprisingly adept at cracking safes, leading to a new, profitable (but dangerous) sideline.

Review: One of the things I really enjoy about TIFF is that you can often walk into movies you know nothing about and be totally surprised by how things unfold over their running time. When Tuner started, it seemed like a quirky drama, very much a surrogate father-son story about a young tuner (played by Leo Woodall) who pals around with a much older veteran (Dustin Hoffman) who treats him like family. Woodall’s character, Niki, has a rare condition where his ears are...

Following a decade of highs and lows, the reputation of DC Comics on film is now in an era of rehabilitation, thanks to the critical and commercial success of "Superman." The film, which was written and directed by DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn, has emerged as the first major victory for the brand over the ever-so dominant Marvel Studios in 17 years. Much of the film's staying power this summer can be attributed to the latest actor who brought Clark Kent to life this time around: David Corenswet.

With "Superman," Corenswet emerges as one of Hollywood's most exciting rising stars. Along with his acclaimed portrayal as the titular Man of Steel for the new Dcu,...

Jason Statham has fought gangsters, assassins, and international crime lords, but in 2018 he went up against a monster that made even the Fast & Furious family look small: a 75-foot-long prehistoric shark. As of August 1, The Meg is available to stream for free on Tubi, where it joins an eclectic lineup of titles including Baby Driver, Godzilla vs. Kong, the Lethal Weapon films, and even its own 2023 sequel, Meg 2: The Trench. Eenie Meanie Review: Samara Weaving is a getaway driver in this fun heist thriller
Image
Plot: An irreverent high-speed thriller follows a former teenage getaway driver who is dragged back into her unsavory past when a previous employer offers her the chance to save the life of her chronically unreliable ex-boyfriend.

Review: If I had a choice between the over-the-top theatricality of The Fast Saga and The Italian Job or the more grounded world of Drive, Ronin, or The Usual Suspects, I would take the latter every time. While Baby Driver is a rare blend of both, Edgar Wright’s film skews more unbelievable than believable. Shawn Simmons’ feature directorial debut, Eenie Meanie, looked in trailers to be closer to Baby Driver. Still, I was...

Eenie Meanie Review — Fun Heist Film Loses Its Effectiveness in The Turns
Image
There are few pleasures like watching a fun heist movie. The excitement of seeing competent criminals working in tandem can feel like jazz, especially since the genre often features scores from the genre. Eenie Meanie pulls from the popular tropes of the genre and gives Samara Weaving an electric role as the lead. While it does come off as a bit of a roller coaster ride, Eenie Meanie is a mostly fun crime thriller. It also boasts an enjoyable cast, even if they occasionally feel misused.

Eenie Meanie Plot

After years as a getaway driver, Edie (Weaving) has enrolled in college to move on with her life. However, when she...

Eenie Meanie
Image
This is the sort of film that might have done gangbusters in the multiplexes back in the ’90s. Today, of course, it’s a streaming-only affair, and what a shame that it is. Eenie Meanie — a title that suggests a horror film or a kiddie-friendly affair, though it is emphatically neither — is a rollicking crime comedy with enough punchy jokes and punch-the-air action that it really should be have been seen with a packed popcorn-munching Friday-opening-night crowd.

It’s a hell of an effort right out of the gate from first-time director Shawn Simmons, and another reminder that Ready Or Not’s Samara Weaving deserves to be a bigger star.

The Running Man: Glen Powell Will ‘Fully Unleash’ As An Action Star In Edgar Wright’s Thriller
Image
Glen Powell is no stranger to action. He was, after all, a standout in Top Gun: Maverick, where he learned the secrets of high-flying setpieces under the wing of Tom Cruise. And he was a pure adrenaline junkie in Twisters as ‘tornado wrangler’ Tyler Owens, putting pedal to metal as he chased wild weather events for kicks. But The Running Man is different. In Edgar Wright’s fresh adaptation of the Stephen King novel, Powell’s Ben Richards will be… well, running, and fighting, and leaping into action, evading bullets, dodging killers, and scrambling for his life as he battles to win a deadly gameshow in exchange for the cash...

Andy Garcia, Steve Zahn, Marshawn Lynch, Samara Weaving, and Karl Glusman in Wild Speed Girl (2025)
Interview: Samara Weaving, Karl Glusman, & Shawn Simmons talk the fast cars and toxic relationships of Eenie Meanie
Andy Garcia, Steve Zahn, Marshawn Lynch, Samara Weaving, and Karl Glusman in Wild Speed Girl (2025)
After watching the trailer for Eenie Meanie, I foolishly assumed I was in for a ride similar to films like Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver or the flashy Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie romp Gone in 60 Seconds. Not only was I wrong, but I was overjoyed to find that Eenie Meanie straps us in for something far more powerful, hauntingly familiar, and emotionally resonant. If you’re looking for a heist film with substance, knockout performances, and bodies dropping like flies, Eenie Meanie is here to blow your hair back.

We recently had the pleasure of discussing Eenie Meanie with Shawn Simmons, the film’s director and writer, and Samara Weaving and Karl Glusman, the project’s stars. During our talks (which you can watch in the video embedded above), Simmons recalls where the idea for the film came from and how it came to fruition. We also discuss the...

The Running Man Delays Release: Here’s When Glen Powell’s Film Hits Theaters

Edgar Wright’s highly anticipated remake of The Running Man has been delayed by one week, and the movie is now set to hit theatres on November 14, 2025. The movie was originally set to release on November 7 this year. According to Deadline, the delay is due to a decision to increase the movie’s IMAX screen availability.

Starring Glen Powell and Josh Brolin, the movie is an adaptation of Stephen King’s 1982 dystopian novel. It promises to offer a fresh take on the classic story. The sci-fi action movie was first adapted in 1987, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Every Upcoming Jon Bernthal Movie in 2026 and Beyond
Image
Jon Bernthal has long been a powerhouse in television, but he’s also carved out an impressive career in films. From his slick turn in Baby Driver alongside Kevin Spacey to his role in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill, Bernthal has proven he can deliver unforgettable performances across genres and formats.

While Bernthal gets more attention for his TV roles in Netflix’s The Punisher, which stands tall with an 8.4 rating on IMDb, and as Michael “Mikey” Berzatto in The Bear, which earned him his first Emmy Award for Best Comedy Guest Actor, he has been making inroads in Hollywood with high-octane projects like the Ben Affleck-starrer The Accountant 2. The movie was released on April 25, 2025, two months before Bernthal made another guest appearance in The Bear Season 4.

Swiped Trailer: Is Lily James’ Film Based on a True Story? History of Bumble and Tinder Decoded
Image
Hulu has dropped the trailer for its Swiped, Starring Lily James, who plays Bumble CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd, the youngest female self-made billionaire at the time of Bumble going public (via Forbes), who revolutionized the dating landscape. And it appears the movie might be taking some creative liberties, as it doesn’t claim to be based on a true story, but rather inspired by real events, suggesting a rather loose adaptation.

This explains the heightened tension in the trailer, which appears to be amplified for dramatic effect. However, the movie still seems very much in line with the real events, which saw Wolfe Herd leaving Tinder to create rival company Bumble.

Swiped Trailer Sees Lily James Giving Women the Keys to Online Dating

Both Bumble and Tinder have been instrumental in the dating landscape, especially the former, which flipped the script by giving women the power over the online dating scenario.

Lily James Stars Ss Bumble Founder In Hulu Biopic Swiped | Trailer Released
Image
Lily James is set to star in Swiped, an intriguing new biopic from Hulu, which will debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and has just released its first trailer. Swiped is a biopic about American entrepreneur Whitney Wolfe Herd (James), founder and former CEO of Bumble, as well as co-founder of Tinder.

Whitney Wolfe Herd is credited with vital branding and marketing decisions behind Tinder, but resigned in 2014, and shortly thereafter filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the company. According to the trailer, Tinder executives also did not take inappropriate behavior on the app itself seriously.

Wolfe Herd launched the more female-driven dating app Bumble the same year. Swiped also stars James' former Downton Abbey co-star Dan Stevens, among many others, such as Veep and The Handmaid's Tale's Clea DuVall. The new trailer for Swiped showcases some of the conflicts that led the protagonist to leave...

Glen Powell Brings Grit and Humanity to 'The Running Man,' Says Director Edgar Wright Alongside New Image [Exclusive]
Image
This fall sees the long-awaited release of The Running Man, Edgar Wright’s high-octane adaptation of the Stephen King novel. The action-thriller stars Glen Powell in the role of Ben Richards, a desperate everyman forced to enter a deadly game show in a not-so-distant dystopian America — and judging by our intense exclusive image, things are not going well for him. As part of Collider's Exclusive Preview event, we're delighted to reveal a new look at Powell in the film. We can also share a delightful chat we had with Wright, one of the world's most exciting directors of kinetic and stylized action.

Wright, known for genre-defining cult favorites like Shaun of the Dead and Baby Driver, is promising something darker and more faithful to King’s original story — and a whole lot rougher than the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger version. The director says that when describing the movie to new audiences,...

Watch Jason Statham's 'The Meg' for Free in August 2025
Image
Despite not finding favor among critics upon its release, this 2018 sci-fi movie, often considered horror, and starring Jason Statham, did pretty well at the box office. Titled The Meg, it hit theaters in the U.S. on August 10, 2018. Eventually, it made its way to various streaming homes over the years, including HBO Max in America and Netflix globally, where it has garnered even more attention.

Most recently, another streaming home has been added to the bunch, and unlike the others, it allows viewers to enjoy films and TV shows for absolutely free. Starting on August 1, The Meg was made available on Tubi, where it will play for an uncertain yet limited amount of time, joining a boatload of other popular titles that were added to the streamer just this month. Some of these titles are the four films in the Lethal Weapon franchise, Hotel Transylvania and its sequel, the Bring It On franchise,...

15 Best Movies Like Now You See Me
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

If we're to believe a certain delightfully deceptive Christopher Nolan film, the third act of any magic show is always the most shocking -- which should have us all excited for the imminent release of Lionsgate's "Now You See Me: Now You Don't." The third entry in the high-grossing "Now You See Me" series (which began in 2013 and continued with a sequel in 2016), the 2025 film is set to return viewers to this arrestingly glamorous world of vigilante illusionists.

For the uninitiated, the series follows the escapades of the Four Horsemen, a group of stage magicians who once managed to "magically" transport millions of stolen dollars from a secure bank vault in Paris to their audience in Las Vegas. They then began using their unique skills of misdirection, deception, manipulation, and stagecraft to execute elaborate heists against the wealthy for the benefit of common people.

Chris Hemsworth's submarine thriller, Subversion, casts its female lead in the form of an Emmy-nominated star. Earlier this year, it was announced that Hemsworth would be starring in a submarine action thriller for Amazon MGM Studios, directed by Patrick Vollrath, whose debut feature was the plane hijack thriller 7500, with a script written by Andrew Ferguson, known only for the short film Love Thy Neighbor.

The film follows a once-promising Naval commander (played by Chris Hemsworth) who is coerced by a cartel-style operation into captaining a submarine smuggling illegal cargo through international waters. Forced into a deadly game of cat and mouse, he must outmaneuver naval blockades and navigate several threats lurking both inside the vessel and beyond its hull.

How Pamela Anderson Feels About Hulu's Pam & Tommy Miniseries
Image
There was a time in the 1990s when Pamela Anderson was one of the most famous people on the face of the planet. Thanks to her breakout role on "Baywatch" and her brief but memorable time on the hit sitcom "Home Improvement," Anderson shot to fame like a rocket, even reaching true global superstardom levels when she married rock drummer Tommy Lee of Motley Crue fame. That whole saga, and the infamous leaked sex tape that followed, was previously documented in the 2022 Hulu miniseries "Pam & Tommy," which was met with a great deal of acclaim. So, what does Anderson think of the show?

In a recent "Andy Cohen Live" interview to promote her role in the "Naked Gun" reboot, Anderson touched on the series. Put simply, she wasn't a fan. "I didn't have any involvement. No one called me." Anderson explained, adding that it was "hurtful." When Cohen asked...

Sony’s Josh Greenstein In Talks To Join Paramount Under New Skydance
Image
In what has been rumored for months, Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group President Josh Greenstein is in talks to go to the new Paramount-Skydance company in an undefined role.

We heard this back over Oscar weekend that he was sitting down with buddy David Ellison, however, nothing official could happen in terms of papering a deal as the merger wasn’t tied up with a bow. Now that the FCC has cleared the merger, it’s Ok for Greenstein to enter talks with the new Ellison-operated entertainment conglom. The $8 billion merger becomes official August 7.

I understand Sony is bracing for this change-up with Greenstein’s exit, with succession plans afoot in the development division. Greenstein, though long known for his marketing prowess, was promoted to Motion Picture Group co-president with Sanford Panitch in 2019, overseeing development, business affairs and distribution. As part of an exciting slate of action-packed films, Tubi is adding Lethal Weapon and its three sequels, starring Gibson and Danny Glover, to the platform to help close out the summer with a bang. Debuting in 1987, it's the prototypical buddy cop movie franchise and the perfect watch for when the weather is hot and the mood calls for something a bit more explosive. The films will all be available starting on August 1, alongside the Jason Statham-led The Meg, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Baby Driver, among other titles.

The original Lethal Weapon cast Gibson as troubled police detective Martin Riggs and Glover as his older partner Roger Murtaugh. Following his wife's death, Riggs is in rough shape, becoming increasingly volatile on...

5 Directors I Want to Direct Superman Sequel After James Gunn
Image
James Gunn’s Superman has become a major turning point for DC Studios, and I’d like the momentum to keep going, even after its release. David Corenswet emerged as our new Man of Steel, effortlessly, despite the hate. And this rebooted universe, which is currently in its Phase 1, ‘Gods and Monsters’ arc, signals a strong start ahead.

The positive early buzz and huge box office numbers have all materialized due to Gunn’s creative vision. I am hoping that he returns for a sequel, but assuming he steps away to focus on other Dcu projects, I believe these five directors could absolutely take his spot to direct Superman’s next flight.

Every Celeb Jeremy Renner Has Dated After Nasty Divorce With Sonni Pacheco
Image
Jeremy Renner may shoot arrows like a pro on screen, but his aim in love has been a little more chaotic. The Marvel star was once married to Canadian actress and model Sonni Pacheco, whom he met in the early 2010s. Their whirlwind romance led to the birth of daughter Ava Berlin in 2013. They tied the knot secretly in 2014, but the honeymoon phase fizzled fast. Pacheco filed for divorce after just 10 months, citing irreconcilable differences.

Their split escalated into a very looong and brutal custody battle (as reported by People). Pacheco accused Renner of emotional instability, alleging he once placed a gun in his mouth and fired it into the ceiling while their daughter was sleeping. She also claimed he threatened to kill her. Renner and his legal team strongly denied the allegations, dismissing them as “one-sided” and “dramatizations.”

Despite the mess, the exes eventually reached a joint custody agreement.

‘It's feral, it's raw’: Lily James teases ‘real re-imagining’ of Sylvester Stallone’s Cliffhanger
Lily James has teased the Cliffhanger reboot is a “real re-imagining” of the original movie. The 36-year-old actress will star in the new take of Sylvester Stallone’s 1993 action flick as Naomi Cooper, and James has now revealed Cliffhanger is “definitely different” to the first flick.Speaking with Screen Rant, she said: “I don't want to say too much to give it away right now. What I will say is I had one of the most thrilling experiences of my life. We shot in the Dolomites. We were there for six weeks on the mountains. “I was really hanging off mountains. We had to shut down multiple times because of freak snowstorms. “The story is very much through Naomi and her sister Sydney. I would hope that we are maintaining what people love about the original cliffhanger, but it's definitely different. “It's feral, it's raw. It's a real re-imagining, and I am producing it too.

The Running Man – Official Trailer Drops: Edgar Wright’s Bold Take on Stephen King’s Classic Stars Glen Powell
Image
The full trailer for The Running Man is finally here, and it’s already making waves. Directed by Edgar Wright, this new version of the story looks intense, gritty, and full of action. It’s not a remake of the old 1987 movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Instead, it’s based more closely on the original 1982 novel by Stephen King, written under his pen name, Richard Bachman.

Glen Powell plays Ben Richards, the main character who ends up on a brutal game show where survival is the only way to win. Contestants get hunted down on live TV while the world watches. If they make it out alive, they get a big cash prize. But most don’t. The whole thing takes place in a broken-down future where the show is the biggest thing on television, and people are glued to it.

The Running Man – Full Trailer Released: Edgar Wright & Glen Powell Bring Stephen King’s Vision to Life
Image
A brand-new version of The Running Man is on the way, and it looks like it’s going to be a wild ride. The first full trailer has just been released, and fans are finally getting a closer look at what director Edgar Wright has been working on.

This isn’t a remake of the 1987 film with Arnold Schwarzenegger; it’s a fresh take that sticks more closely to the original book by Stephen King, who wrote it under the name Richard Bachman.

The movie stars Glen Powell as Ben Richards, a man thrown into a deadly game show where he has to run for his life while being hunted. The prize? A big pile of cash, but only if he survives. The story is set in a dark future where the world is falling apart, and this game show is the biggest thing on TV. It’s violent, intense,...

‘The Running Man’ Trailer Teases Glen Powell’s Deadliest Game
Image
Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first official trailer, teaser poster and film stills for Edgar Wright’s long-gestating update of The Running Man, setting social media alight ahead of its 7 November 2025 release in Dolby Cinema, 4Dx, ScreenX, Premium Large Formats and IMAX.

The original 1987 blockbuster, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as desperate everyman Ben Richards, transformed Stephen King’s dystopian novella into an all-out satirical bloodsport, and Wright’s version promises to honour that spirit while injecting his trademark kinetic humour and visual flair.

This time, Hollywood’s rising star Glen Powell steps into the role of Richards, a factory worker driven to enter a lethal televised game show when his young daughter’s medical bills spiral out of control. Josh Brolin reprises the role of the charmingly ruthless producer Dan Killian, the architect of a nationwide spectacle in which “Runners” must evade professional assassins for thirty days in order to claim a life-changing cash prize.

James Bond Wishlist for Denis Villeneuve’s Film Includes Jacob Elordi, Tom Holland, Harris Dickinson — Report
Image
Now that the 26th James Bond movie officially has a director attached in Denis Villeneuve, the search is officially on for whom will play 007. A report in Variety on Friday suggests Amazon MGM Studios’ wishlist includes some familiar faces.

Variety reported that Jacob Elordi, Tom Holland, and Harris Dickinson, three of the more in-demand young actors today, are all at the top of producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman’s wishlist. The studio is supposedly looking for a British actor under the age of 30, which would ostensibly eliminate some other popular one-time candidates like Henry Cavill, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, or at one point a seeming front runner, Idris Elba. However, no meetings have taken place with any candidates for the role, according to Variety.

Amazon declined IndieWire’s request for comment.

Villeneuve reportedly won the job over several other European candidates, including “Conclave” director Edward Berger, “Baby Driver” director Edgar Wright,...

'Simple is actually the hardest to do' by Amber Wilkinson
Kid Koala
Eric San says the origami scene was inspired by a meal with his mum. She turned a chopstick packet into a shape. 'I was holding it like it was a jewel in my hand,' he recalls Photo: Outsiders

Kid Koala – aka Eric San – makes a virtue out of simplicity with his debut animation. He employs an uncluttered clarity in Space Cadet to tell the story of a little girl, Celeste, who dreams of being an astronaut like her mother, and the guardian robot who has looked after her since her mum didn’t come back from one of her missions. As the time comes for her to prepare for her own space mission, they are both set for a fresh adventure

The Canadian’s sweet tale of love, caring for others and letting your imagination roam free premiered at Berlinale and has recently screened at Annecy Festival, where we...

10 Best Actors Almost Cast In Matt Reeves' The Batman
Image
The story of how Matt Reeves' "The Batman" marched its way into existence deserves its own film. Not only was it born out of the ashes of Ben Affleck's "The Batman," which would have been like David Fincher's "The Game," but it also encountered several production setbacks due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the following uncertainty of whether or not audiences would return to theaters. In the end, Reeves and Co. delivered a remarkable and brooding Dark Knight film that doesn't look out of place next to its contemporaries or other Bat flicks. Plus, it also helps that it received stellar reviews across the board and made serious bank at the box office.

While the movie turned out great overall, it could have looked much different had certain actors been cast instead of who we finally saw in the roles. Like with any other blockbuster, numerous performers spoke to casting directors,...

Jon Hamm Explains Why He Keeps Playing Villains Ahead Of His Morning Show Return
Image
Jon Hamm is often seen in antagonistic or anti-heroic roles in television and movies, and the actor has finally opened up about why he inclines more towards portraying villains. More often than not, audiences cannot help but think about Mad Men's Don Draper every time Jon Hamm's name is mentioned. Given how Jon Hamm did an incredible job of capturing Draper's moral complexities, flaws, and layers of emotional repression, it makes sense that he is still associated with the character.

Even in his most recent Apple TV+ series, Your Friends & Neighbors, Hamm perfectly captured a morally skewed character, making it hard not to wonder what drives him to pick villainous roles. In an interview (via WMagazine), Hamm revealed that he and his wife have an opinion on his negative role choices. He said that being morally righteous like Superman "can be kind of boring," but playing "characters...
