Bad enough to be a horror parody, but without any of the things that make horror comedy films actually good

Where to begin... The acting in this movie is pretty bad. Like, some of them have their moments where the acting isnt COMPLETE trash, but generally it is very amateurish. For a horror film where reactions need to feel genuine, this movie fail miserably. If you saw one of your buddies... roasted to death in a fire, lets say (I used that example specifically b/c it doesnt happen in this film and I dont wanna use spoilers) you would rightfully freak the eff out!... these people are basically just like "aw, bummer. Oh well, let's gtfo i guess" (not an actual quote lol) It's ALMOST laughably bad - but this movie doesnt even give you that.

This movie almost doesnt even have a plot. The story development this film does have ranges from very bland to very weird and at times, down right silly.

As bad as the plot is, the character development (or lack of) is actually even worse. Not only are the characters mostly all flat and boring, they also dont grow AT ALL throughout the entire movie. By the end, I was praying for them to all die horribly. They deserve it for sucking so much. lol.

The one character who wasnt painfully boring was the main character - but that's only because of how unfathomably aggrevating she was. If I'm being honest, she kind of reminded me of a year-one-Hermione-Granger but somehow way more annoying. "It's levi-OH-saw, not levi-oh-SAW!"

And each character was intensly stupid. Especially the main character, who didnt really seem to know why she was so sure ghost videos were fake other than "because science" and "because of course they are" (I'm paraphrasing). She also may have cited youtube as a scientific source at one point... lol. She was a freakin' moron. Par for the course with this movie's characters, unfortunately.

This movie's greatest weakness tbh is probably the script. It is just fundamentally bad. The actor's lines, the plot, the premise, the potencially interesting back story for the haunted mansion and ghost thing that roams the halls that never really gets fleshed out in any meaningful way... the script is just bad.

The ONE thing that was REMOTELY scary or thrilling or w/e was the creepy music/sound effects. They had some good creepy demoinic noises and children's whispers and laughter and stuff that was I guess we are to assume was picked up by the camera's recordings but not heard out loud (they never reacted to the noises). The only problem with this feature is unfortunatley they played these noises continuously until it just became background noise. The creepy noises werent used sparingly to accentuate the atmosphere. Instead it was plastered over the whole latter half of the film and it was thought - I assume - that the more creepy noises you have = more scarey... lol. Not so. To describe what the effect was like without making you watch the film, imagine playing one of those halloween spooky noise recordings people play to make their front yard creepy for the trick-or-treaters... now imagine you're playing 3 of those recordings simultaneously over top of each other for about an hour, and you pretty much know what i'm talking about here.

The last thing I'm going to mention, I dont think this is a spoiler, I'm just going to say... guns have ammo. Ammo is a thing that exists. That's it. I'll leave it at that.

This movie is terrible. It's not even bad enough to be good. it's just bad.

    What a damn shame

While I was watching this I started to keep a list of the problems I could see an easy fix for but the list became so long that I realized it was just the frame of the movie that I was taken with. That frame is: Five film-making students in Berlin go to a castle that had been converted to a satellite experimental-type hospital for the nazis to use on the inmates of a nearby concentration camp. This is a found footage movie with drones. As the ominous, aerial POV shot is one of my personal near-necessary tropes I found this effect to be dazzling. Then the shortcomings started to overcome the movie; so I'm going to leave it at a slight pan. Slight because I do like the movie, just FIX IT. F'rinstance, there was not enough blood or damage in general to the ones caught by the demon. When Steve? was attacked by the demon, instead of just using his light halo on the ground as the visual (from his headlamp) his lower body should have been visible within the light halo, from the lamp being displaced, and he should have been much more mutilated than he was visually represented, because audibly he WAS more mutilated and that way the two representations could have jibed.

Needless camera effecr ruins much of movie

This project could have been tolerable if not for the needless and over-used "camera flicker" effect throughout the movie. That effect was so distracting that it ruined what could have been at least tolerable action scenes. While this was clearly a low-budget project, it did at least show the "students" trying to actually FIGHT the evil monster/killer. That was refreshing. Without the unnecessary camera flicker, this movie could have been at least a 5, which is respectable. All the cliches are there, but if you watch a movie like this you expect that.

    Ugh

This was an absolute crapshow. The acting was so poor. This movie was 1 1/2 hours I can't get back. The lead actress says of a video they watch "This was very bad acting!" I almost choked at the irony. Lame, boring, not scary movie.

    Not so demonic horror

Have never been a fan of found footage-like films, find the excessively shaky camera work that often comes with it often overused and cheaply and lazily used. Do appreciate horror however, do not have anything personal against low budget films or films dealing with the paranormal. The concept was a decent one, so there was definitely no prejudicial bias before watching 'Paranormal Demons'. Was apprehensive about it but wanted it to work at the same time.

'Paranormal Demons' unfortunately didn't work for me in any shape or form. The concept is not a new one, although decent, and 'Paranormal Demons' does nothing new or interesting with it. The tagline here compares it to the 'Paranormal Activity' and 'Friday the 13th' films, saying it's a mix of them. Don't see it and find the comparisons on the insulting side, am not a fan of the 'Paranormal Activity' franchise, which got worse with each film, but did notice a little value in all of them which can't be seen here, while enough of the 'Friday the 13th' films are much better made, more entertaining and have much more genuine dread than this ever did in the entire duration.

Like has been said before, also appreciated the effort of seeing the students fighting off the villain, but other than that there is nothing going for it.

In 'Paranormal Demons', there are no creepy visuals or no eerie or atmospheric lighting, just repetitive and gimmicky camera work, with an overused to excessiveness flickering effect that annoys and exhausts, and editing that is an insult to the word amateurish. They made the film look like a student film project that failed big time. The sound effects are some of the most annoying for any film in a long time.

'Paranormal Demons' biggest problems are the pacing and story. The pacing never comes to life and it doesn't even pick up momentum in the latter parts of the film. There is nothing scary here, no intensity, no ominous atmosphere, no broodiness or sense of dread. It's just a snail's pace slog rife with implausibility, stupid decision making, predictable and overly calculated "scares" and intelligence insulting ridiculousness, and does nothing new with an initially interesting but now gotten well stale premise.

A lot of the film feels like padded out filler with the non-horror moments containing cringe-worthy dialogue and characters that have no development and either have bland personalities or made to act dumb. Direction is flat, the villain has no real menace and the inexperience badly shows in all of the acting with no exceptions.

    Summarising, very poorly done. 2/10
