Gave it a watch for the first time since it's release way bck in 2015, Khamoshiyan is a good horror romantic thriller with a decent n gripping 1st half with slow n unrealistic 2nd half(mostly during the end credits). Ali fazal acts well bt I felt tht for such kind of films some other actors would suit n mostly it's Emraan hashmi, Gurmeet Chaudhry ws decent and atleast wld say he suited the role he plays, Sapna paabi is Zero in terms of acting- her Hindi first of all is so damn accented n plus her Expressions also have no impact I really dnt understand wt the makers saw in her whilst casting. Overall the film is a decent one time thriller with some horror elements and gripping 1st half. I rate it a 6.3/10 starz.
Khamoshiyan review :
What would you do if you checked in as the only visitor in an isolated spooky guest house run by a mysterious woman..... Obviously you would flee from the place fast and quick, rite?! No, Apparently not if you are a character from Vikram Bhatt written- Mukesh & Mahesh Bhatt produced Khamoshiyan. Here, you would continue to stay at the haunted place (Ali Fazal), fantasize bedding Miss. Mystery (Sapna Pabbi) in those eerie conditions, and wait to discover the secret of her terminally ill husband (Gurmeet Chowdhary). Welcome then, to the staple Bhatt formula!
A formula which blends sex and horror, throws in couple of hummable numbers, gives chance to newcomers/ in-house groomed cast to keep the budget tight and churn out a well marketed film which earns a decent profit by end of its first week. Yeah sure, everyone is happy, the Bhatts make their money and move on to their next vehicle. Their formula doesn't change. In that sense, this film could have passed off as "Murder 4", "Jannat 3" or even a "Raaz 4D" if it had Emran Hashmi or Bipasha Basu in the lead.
Only this time, the lead actors cannot carry the outdated plot on their shoulders. Ali Fazal pitches in a laboured and uninspiring act. Sapna Pabbi, while easy on eyes, is sore on the acting front. And Gurmeet Chowdhary, to put it mildly, should stick to TV serials only.
On the tech front, the musical score is catchy, especially the title song which is well picturized. The VFX effects are strictly okie dokie. Editing by Kuldip Mehan is crisp at just over 2 hours.
All said and endured, Khamoshiyan could have possibly worked as an erotica with a Bipasha Basu or a Sunny Leone in the lead. Sapna Pabbi can't save it for sure!!

What on earth are these movie-makers thinking?!? Just put in few hot scenes with romantic songs and people will merrily watch the film with their mouths open? Forget about horror, this film glorifies the cheap mentality of Indian film makers. In fact I am the biggest fool to waste my time on these crap films. Horror genre is losing its hold day by day not only in Bollywood but also in Hollywood. I know it is difficult to bring up an entirely original horror story these days, but at least deliver a few scares (even jump scares would do).
Here a writer Kabir (Habib Faisal) goes into the wilderness of Jammu to write a novel. No prize for guessing that he stays in a creepy lakeside lodge. The lodge is managed by a single woman Meera (Sapna Pabbi) whose husband Jaidev(Gurmeet Chaudhary) is ill. Soon our writer starts experiencing spooky activities like seeing scary reflections in glass, opening doors, etc. which were more comedy than scary. The wheels wear off even before the ride begins. The suspense and reveal behind the scary events was hilarious. Actually number of times I laughed at the scary moments is more than the number of times I was scared. Not a single moment was scary. By the time we reached the climax ridiculed with pathetic CGI and absurd ho-hums I was least bothered.
With forced romance and songs (a few good ones thanks to Arijit Singh), Khamoshiyan is just another horrex film of Bollywood which I should not have bothered to watch. After the horrendous 'Alone' just a few weeks ago, we have another one in the same month. How desperate can these film-makers be? 2015 so far has been really pathetic for Bollywood with horrible duds like 'Tevar', 'Alone','Dolly ki Doli','Hawaizaada' and now 'Khamoshiyan'. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time on this crap.

'Khamoshiyan' rides on a stunning premise, but what is eventually served, is under-whelming. The sole saving grace is its melodious music.
'Khamoshiyan' Synopsis: An erotic love triangle revolving around a writer adrift in the icy slopes of Kashmir where he discovers a woman with a strange, silent past.
The problem with 'Khamoshiyan' is its Screenplay Written by Vikram Bhatt. It's so confused between being an erotica and a horror/thriller, that it never achieves its aim. Despite a few spine-chilling moments in the first-hour, the second-hour is devoid of scares or thrills. How one wishes if Bhatt simply concentrated on just one particular genre.
Karan Darra's Direction is claustrophobic. Cinematography captures some moments well. Editing is fair. Music by Various Artists, is fabulous. Each & Every song is melodious.
Performance-Wise: Ali Faizal is earnest, but not memorable! Sapna Pabbi looks gorgeous, but is leaps away from being called an actress. Gurmeet Chaudhary hams. He's more funny, than being vicious.
On the whole, 'Khamoshiyan' is a great idea, gone wrong.

Its very sad to see such mockery in the genre "Horror",( sorry they don't need horror no longer, they got a sub genre called erotic horror/erotic thriller or simply horrex)..The most pathetic fact is that we will get even more better story from some old B grade horror films..
Scare, sex the pattern is itself repeating, and be honest it disappoints by all the way.. The plot is very ridiculous and unbelievable.. Why they are repeating the tested formula of "Main stream B grade" films..
I don't want to say the story, you can guess it ! What was so raunchy and erotic in the movie that it got an A certificate? At once you would be clueless seeing Sapna Pabbi stripping off and then Ali Fazal trying to make love to her in the very first meet!! Don't waste your time by watching this so called horror film! One minute silence please!
