Challenges your thinking yet leaves you with a positive outlook

Many documentaries leave you feeling like "What idiots" or "I would never do this" or "Why am I still living?" because they highlight something important but put it across in a way that leaves you feeling despondent. Fame Us is different.

Fame Us enables you to see the traps that our bad culture has set for us so that you can see a pathway out of it. The interviews of famous people get some really credible answers on how to achieve fame but not be seduced by fame.

I was really challenged personally to talk with my daughters and teach them some of the things I had identified from Fame Us. It was really worthwhile to share with them the common traps that, with understanding, could be avoided, along with the misadventure and often pain that follows.

Fame Us left me feeling that fame isn't something we have to eliminate from our lives and that all famous people are evil and self absorbed. The movie was able to present fame as a part of our culture and that setting career goals and achieving them can be pleasant, but do not have to be a priority.

Thank you Lincoln for making this life study.

Gently makes a very strong point about the toxicity of fame

This documentary makes a very strong point about the toxicity of fame and how the problems associated with fame - once only a threat for the few who had earned it - are now potentially impacting everyone with a smartphone. I will definitely watch it again with my 12 year old daughter.

      Changed thinking

Master 11 came out of the Perth premier of Fame Us and stated that his thinking about the Internet and Facebook had changed! Well done Lincoln on a thought provoking, insightful and personally challenging film.

      Really makes you think...

I went to the premiere last night in TriBeCa. "Fame Us" is so well done, and the director-driven questions invoked such deep thought. It's one of those documentaries that makes you take a step back and reevaluate the 'norm'. Lincoln Fenner (Director), played this one smart. Don't miss it.

If Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) analysed social media

Through a series of interviews this film reveals different motivations for posting on Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram etc. Is it a fear of being anonymous? Is it done to validate life choices? Is it just a competition? Perhaps we're all addicted to social media, but fame without real relationships is just hollow.

After I watched this film I thought about why I posted my news. Now my posts are about keeping in touch with family and friends that I don't get to see. Who cares about the millions?! A handful of good friends is just fine.

This should be compulsory viewing when signing up a new social media account!
