Do you like Beautiful Vampires and Great Music? If so this one is for you! "Great Indie Vampire flick! The lead actress Iva Stelmak was stunning in the lead role as Xandra. The casting for this movie was right on spot! The soundtrack was great and flowed accented and complimented the film. the story line grabs you and keeps you interested, generally speaking most vampire movies are pretty predictable. This one was not. Even though it has a lot of new faces this movie is a great surprise. Definitely worth watching!
My girlfriend loves this movie.. think it's a chick movie, but I dug it. Has a cool vibe, stylish Indie cool music, hot actresses that were talented.. rare thing today with these Indie films... Most of the American ones suck.. part of this film was shot in France and a lot of the cast is foreign so maybe this is an international production. When there's Vampires we end up renting no matter what... Cause we are Vampire fanatics... 7 Stars... better for woman... because it's a chick film.
I am a lover of everything about Vampires and have much experience with the legends from my homeland. I think this film "Cult of the Vampire" did a good job telling an interesting story but I think the best part was the lead actress Iva Stelmak. She was very powerful and convincing in her role as Xandra. I am happy this film was made. I watched the film a second time with my roommate and it was just as good a second time.
Art-house Euro styled horror film with a good no-name cast. The lead actresses; Iva Stelmak and Megan Porter are perfectly cast and bring depth to their characters. The music makes this film more powerful because the lyrics tell the story as well as the dialog and actions. Pacing is fast and not predictable. It has a "Cult Classic" vibe for us Vampire aficionado's. "Cult of the Vampire" is on my list now as one of the better Vampire films the last few years.
I got a chance to watch this film last week and decided I'd write a little review here. Don't really review things but I figured maybe it's time to start support the film I find that I like since Hollywood has been oh so disappointing of late. CULT OF THE VAMPIRE is a independent film with no famous stars but it is potent and powerful in its message of Love. I think the lesbian girlfriend angles and the music world really define this film in a real and modern way. It's been done before; Vampires as rock stars, but not as good as in CULT OF THE VAMPIRE. These songs are way better than any music soundtrack I have come across. Sadly I can't seem to find this artist Cat Tasso other them one song on Itunes "I Burn" which I did buy. Hopefully she will release the other tunes for the world to enjoy. The music played an integral part in the story and the helped create the vibe, it really made the whole film work. As far as the cast, I though the leads were great. Iva Stelmak and Megan Porter were perfectly cast and had a chemistry that made the relationship feel real. I think the art direction was great. The cinematography was amazing at times but not always. The story sucked me in and before I knew it, the film ended. I wanted it to go on. Maybe a tad short in length but for me it's a tell tale sign of good filmmaking when it flies. I hate sequels but I think this film could go somewhere and tell a new story and if it does I hope they use the same cast. This is a very good film. 8 stars from me!
