Although it was a seriously micro-budgeted film, it packs a huge wallop with masterfully done Acting, Direction, and Visual Effects. I must say it again, magnificent acting from the entire cast! What a gem of a film, with such a huge screen presence.
From the moment I started watching I was drawn into the story, and taken on a wonderful character driven roller-coaster ride with a huge pay-off at the end! Katherine Randolph was perfect in the Role of "Kim Harris" a nurse struggling to make sense of all that happens to her. Katherine's depth of a multi-layered character was absolutely perfect. Then the ever-endearing "Reverend Basil Mason" played effortlessly by Martin Horsey was smart and captivating. "Archer Stone", played by Brian Reed Garvin was just wonderful giving us a magnificent and a truly powerful performance. Why have these multi-talented actors been stuck in smaller roles, they have fantastic presence on film! Vincent Inneo was very good giving a strong performance as "FBI Agent Rocco Rinaldi". And we cannot forget child actor Carter Thomas, who was just perfect as the "Young Basil Mason", he was commanding and truly endearing.
It is amazing to me that Hollywood cannot make films like this. It is very apparent that this film was made from pure passion and a cast that was truly behind it from the beginning. With all the millions of dollars wasted on terrible films, why can't Hollywood do this?
My Hats off to the Cast and Crew, and especially the director Brian Reed Garvin for making this film! This Director will be an academy award winner if I have anything to do with it! Do Not Miss this, it is an amazing ride!
Does anyone know if a sequel is in the works?
Why can't we see more films like this? It's fun, has a good story edge for a faith based film, and really paid off in the end! I'd pay $15 to see this. Best of all, I could associate with the characters. There was a lot said that I've heard myself saying and questioning. This film is a really good story that kept my attention for the entire time. Wonder if anyone has thought of making this into a series, I would totally watch it!
The dialogue and story is the biggest problem as it is mostly bad jokes and religious preaching. The acting is ok to bad for the most part. Only one that stands out as really bad is the main character Archer.
There were some highlights in this movie however. Most in a so bad it's good kind of way. The fighting scenes were really funny with weird editing like fast cuts, speeding up and slowing down. Effects were also pretty bad, but it's a low budget picture so that's fine.
All in all a very preachy religious movie which is mostly filled with boring dialogue and bad acting.
Katherine Randolf is captivating as "Kim", a nurse sucked into a situation she doesn't understand but which starts her on a journey to discovery and spirituality. Her accidental accomplice, "Rev. Basil Mason", played with aplomb by Martin Horsey, adds to the mystery of the story and tempers the excitement and action with a light touch of humor.
Speaking of excitement and action Centurion A.D. is loaded to go, and "Archer Stone", played by the writer and director supplies a larger-than-life hero who will steal your imagination and your admiration. His nemesis, F.B.I. agent," Rocco Rinaldi", played convincingly by Vincent Inneo ensures the action will never stop until the story ends with a heart-wrenching twist which makes it all make sense.
There are numerous other unforgettable performance. The evil "Michael Reilly" played by Aaron Hammond, and the young "Basil" played by Carter Thomas are two outstanding performances. And my favorite, the precocious "Cindy Travers" played by Carmina Garay who handily disarms the hard-boiled Agent Rinaldi and steals every scene she is in.
The action and visual effects are amazing and thrilling to watch, but they will not detract from the thought-provoking message the movie delivers. Centurion A.D. is a winner and a film every family will enjoy seeing.
