The first episode of "Angie Tribeca" puts the basis of a show with a clear spirit: bring back the silliness of "Airplane", "Naked Gun" or "Top Secret". From the very first second, when Angie trains in her room before going to work, the show works as a homage of all those movies and others as "Hot Shots". It is all very silly, and quite ridiculous and over-the-top. But that is the purpose of a show like that: throw as many stupid jokes to the wall as possible and see how many stick. And in this pilot they do a good enough job, from the more than clear body-double just jumping around to the all the other stupid moments they fit in the twenty minutes the episode lasts. It is barely original: many of the jokes are recycled from many of those movies, but the package is new, the actors do a great job and keep a straight face all through, and with so much silliness around a couple of chuckles are guaranteed (and maybe a laugh or two too).
It is a good, not great, but good, start to the series. If they stick to being proud to be silly it could be lots of fun.

This would be okay for, maybe, an hour or so one-off. The "Naked Gun", "Airplane" schtick has obviously been done, multiple times. Too tired of a theme to make a whole series.
Angie Tribeca is trying so very hard to be a fresh, hip and new Police Squad, Naked Gun TV series but is just far too clichéd for it's own good! If you've grown up on those films and shows then you will be very disappointed! It's a bit funny if you're not expecting Tarantino, Scorcese (or great comedy directors that I can't name atm) etc, which you wouldn't be to start with, however I mean that it's really not very good on any real level! It tries too hard to be funny in the silly style of Leslie Nielsen and Police Squad but the jokes are just a continuous and relentless barrage of cheese that are in fact just plain obvious!to the point of being not funny! You don't get time to appreciate one before the next crashes and burns! It's like the writer has tried to be like Tim Vine(British comic famous for rapid number of jokes) with his stupid one line daft jokes about any subject around. It's nothing but stupid, childish jokes that will make even the most intellectually challenged feel bored! Maybe that's the idea that they are aiming at as many genres as possible so they have a chance of making a hit show on whatever level appreciates it most! I wanted to like it but found myself able to predict all the jokes a second before spoken! They could've spent more time on real funny lines and scenes as opposed to making every line a little funny but failing because you are fed up of daft jokes after a few minutes of the show! Please writers try to not be Tim Vine and reduce the number of jokes so you can focus on the quality instead! It has potential but tries far too hard! Pure cheese and totally predictable humour that lacks any depth at all and is not even a 2nd rate Police Squad! It's like 3rd or 4th division Naked Gun for morons!
