Nothing Can Stop The Army Air Corps Except Harry Sweet

Harry Sweet is a raw recruit in the Army Air Corps. Sent to fetch a visiting major's dress uniform, he puts it on and winds up at a reception as the major, and then in an airplane piloted by a monkey, while his sergeant, Harry Gribbon, tries to wreak havoc on him.

It's a pretty good short service comedy, with a few nice absurd touches, typical of Sweet's comedy. A forgotten figure, he was key in the establishment of RKO as a short comedy powerhouse in the early 1930s, both as actor and director.

This movie was released in January. He died five months later in a plane crash while scouting locations.

    • Trivia
Only a few months after this film went before the cameras, on 8 June1933, Sweet, an experienced flyer, took writer Howard "Hal" Davitt and Vera Williams, a 20-year-old actress who used the stage mane Claudette Ford, on a flying trip to Big Bear Lake in San Bernardino County to scout film locations. At about 7:15 p.m., the plane lost power and nose-dived into the lake. Davitt and Williams were killed on impact and Sweet drowned.
