Wally Meets Popeye

Wally Meets Popeye is what happens when you throw Saturday morning cartoons, late-night cable oddities, and a whole lot of heart into a blender-and Steve Rudzinski somehow makes it taste like gold.

This campy masterpiece is gloriously over-the-top in all the best ways. From Wally's wonderfully awkward energy to Popeye's gravelly voice and heroic forearms, every second of screen time had me cackling, cringing (in a good way), and wondering, "Did that really just happen?" Spoiler: it did. And it was glorious.

The production is surprisingly sharp-like, "I didn't expect this to look this good but now I'm fully invested in this chaotic crossover universe" sharp. The script is self-aware, the jokes land like an anchor tossed off a battleship, and the pacing keeps you hooked faster than Popeye can down a can of spinach.

If you're looking for something serious and subtle... turn back now. But if you're in the mood for a lovingly crafted, delightfully bizarre, laugh-out-loud romp through nostalgia and nonsense, Wally Meets Popeye will hit the spot and then some. Rudzinski clearly had fun making it, and that joy leaps off the screen like a sailor into a bar fight.
