Just watched Utshob, and honestly, I wasn't expecting to be this moved by a Bangladeshi film - but it completely surprised me in the best way. It feels completely original.
Zahid Hasan nailed it in the lead role. I've seen him in a lot of dramas, but this was on another level. His performance felt real and raw. Jaya Ahsan, Chanchal Chowdhury, and the rest of the cast were amazing too - no weak links at all.
Visually, the film looks great. Cinematography, music, even the sound design - everything felt polished. And the message? Simple, powerful, and very relevant: money means nothing without compassion, community, and connection.
In short, Utshob is heartfelt, honest, and beautifully made. It reminded me how powerful our local stories can be when they're told right. Highly recommended - especially if you want a movie that makes you think and feel.

I promised myself I would not waste any more of my time watching Bangla cinema, no matter how strong the reviews are. I have been made a fool too many times. But the first trailer of this movie got me hooked.
All the legendary actors who were our childhood crushes are gathered in this movie, and they are making fun of themselves, quoting each other's viral dialogues, and having fun... The trailer made me intrigued. But I was not sure if I would go to the cinema hall to enjoy this.
But this evening, after a hectic week at the office, one of our colleagues proposed watching this movie, and I instantly agreed. From the very first scene, I was hooked. Within 5 minutes, there was a big laughter. It was wholesome, emotionally impactful, and charming. The story was inspired by Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol, set in a Bangladeshi context. I came out of the hall with teary eyes.
Overall, if you are a Bangla cinema fan, please go to your nearest cineplex and enjoy the movie with your loved ones.

What a beautiful Bengali film! Zahid Hasan and Afsana Mimi instantly swept me into a wave of 90s nostalgia. And Soumya and Sadia (yes, I had to Google their names!) were such a breath of fresh air. Their raw, honest portrayals took me right back to the simpler days of VCRs and innocent first love.
The highlight of the movie, however, was undoubtedly Zahid Hasan's acting (unpretentious & brilliant), the humorous dialogues that never fell flat, & pretty much the overall screenplay itself! The ensemble cast also kept things interesting at all times!
Went in without any expectations, came out having the best time with my daughter! She, who has never seen Bengali movies before, couldnt stop gushing over what a wonderful time she had! Well done to the Makers - for drawing us back to the theatres with such good content!

"Don't watch It without family" was the warning tagline in the trailer and it's posters which attracted most. After watching the film, someone can understand why. Though it is an adaptation of "A Christmas Carol", it yet represents the soulful touch of family bondings and makes us nostalgic about 90's golden days.
Screenplay was overall good with some wonderful cameo appearances, dialogues was written with great sense of humor and there was soulful touch which made deep impressions.
Casting was top notch with lead role of Jahangir played by Jahid Hasan. His acting was so natural & facial expressions was spontaneous. Major supporting roles played by Soumya & Sadia was refreshing, Afsana Mimi, Tareq Anam, Sunehra, Dinar and Cameo appearances played by Chanchal, Joya & Aupee all carried their roles perfectly.
It was overall a great cinematic experience which will make us emotional & feel good at the end.

The title of this movie speaks for itself. It is indeed a wholesome celebration of life, its people, and all the possibilities. It will make you cry, smile, and indulge in nostalgia, all at once. A truly refreshing and unique movie; a breath of fresh air compared to all the typical movies these days. It is also a bridge between the old and the new generation.
Zahid Hasan plays the role of Jahangir, an elderly, grumpy man living alone. Disliked by his entire neighborhood for his bad manners, his life suddenly changes when something unexpected happens.
Honestly, the less you know about the movie, the better. Go and watch this movie in the theatres. And don't forget to take your family and loved ones with you.

- TriviaIn the final scene where Chanchal, Jaya Ahsan and Aupee Karim are talking with each other, the scene was shot on top of Hatir Jheel Management Building. Hatir Jheel bridge, Hatir Jheel lake, construction of Dhaka Tower and Navana HR Tower was visible in the background in that scene.
- GoofsThe night when Jahangir got married, Jasmine asked him to play chess with her. Though white plays first, Jasmine already had two (!) black pawns moved while no white pieces were moved.
