The recently released Bengali Web Series Jayshalmir Jomjomat is dedicated to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Sonar Kella made by none but great Satyajit Ray. It is next to impossible to recreate Satyajit Ray's cinematic work. Even if one tries to do so shortcomings become obvious. But this effort of expressing gratitude to Satyajit Ray through Jayshalmir Jomjomat is unique and laudable.
Coming to the present Web Series, its theme is average. There are lot of Inconsistencies in the theme. In fact, too many heterogeneous elements have been yoked. But it lacks professionalism. Naturally, despite crime and thril, it distracts attention. There are too many unnecessary characters. At many points, there looks something falling from blue and it happens repeatedly. The Web Series is made for children. But at times vulgar terms have been used. Good effort to pay tribute to great Satyajit Ray. But as a cinematic work, it really looks dull.
