Patralekhaa has built a reputation through her dramatic work in projects like Netflix series “Ic 814: The Kandahar Hijack” and “Wild Wild Punjab,” both 2024, and Disney+ Hotstar series “Aar Ya Paar” (2022). She made her feature debut alongside Rao in Hansal Mehta’s “CityLights” (2014).

In a recent interview with an entertainment portal, actor Patralekhaa opened up about the scrutiny she faces regarding her personal life, especially the persistent rumors about her expecting a baby with her husband, actor Rajkummar Rao. Patralekhaa candidly shared that these rumors, often sparked by instances of bloating, initially bothered her.

She expressed her frustration, explaining that there have been times when people assumed she was pregnant simply because of natural bodily changes, like bloating. “How many times has it happened that I was having bloating, but people feel that I am pregnant. Now who will explain to those people that there are some days in the month when one does not feel good,” she said.

Over time, Patralekhaa has learned to cope with these intrusive speculations by choosing not to engage with online comments. She now focuses on feeling confident in her own skin and no longer lets such rumors affect her.

Rajkummar Rao, who has been part of four films directed by Hansal Mehta ‘Shahid’, ‘CityLights’, ‘Aligarh’, and ‘Omerta’ — on Monday wished the filmmaker on his 56th birthday.

Mumbai, June 26 (Ians) Hansal Mehta, the director of the recently released streaming series ‘Scoop’, has signed a multi-year series partnership with streaming platform Netflix. As a part of the collaboration, Hansal will create multiple series for the streamer in the coming years.

‘Scoop’, which is inspired by crime reporter Jigna Vora’s book ‘Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison’, has been called a genre-defining series.

Talking about the partnership, Hansal Mehta said: “As a filmmaker, the idea of creating diverse and dynamic stories constantly keeps me on my toes. What excites me about this partnership with Netflix, which is home to some of the finest talent, is the potential for my work to reach viewers across the world. As was the case with ‘Scoop’, Netflix is engaged in the creative process right from scripting, all the way to marketing and distribution which is critical for the success of any creative collaboration.

After a temporary Covid-induced pause, the Busan International Film Festival‘s Asian Film Academy, a talent incubator for emerging Asian filmmakers, is returning, in partnership with Chanel. The renamed Chanel X Biff Asian Film Academy promises “a solid foundation for educating young promising Asian talents in a broader and more innovative way and provides the driving force to strengthen their capabilities. Based on this robust financial support, it is expected to be the most enterprising and essential film education program in Asia,” according to a statement released by Chanel and the festival. A highlight of the revamped program will be enhanced opportunities for Asian women filmmakers.

The academy, which has been running since 2005 and now has 363 alumni from 32 countries, is now accepting applications through May 8 for its 2022 program, which will run Sept. 27-Oct. 14.

Rajkummar made his acting debut in 2010 "Love Sex Aur Dhokha". But it was through Mehta's film "Shahid" in 2013 that he gained recognition. Oath’s Oscar-nominated immersive media studio Ryot has partnered with the funding platform Kaleidoscope and Facebook’s Oculus to produce DevLab 2018, a two-day incubator for augmented reality and virtual reality projects.

DevLab will take place Nov. 10 – 11 on the Ryot campus in Playa Vista, where a group of 10 Vr/Ar artists will get the chance to participate in hands-on workshops, live performances and roundtable discussions with advisors from different backgrounds, including game design, immersive theater, magic and storytelling.

“It really is meant to be two days of total immersion within each of these projects, looking at it from a multitude of angles,” said Jake Sally, director of immersive development at Ryot. “They should have notebooks full of notes, and hopefully level-up each of the projects in new ways.”

Participants will develop working versions of their projects, which they’ll later present to 250 industry leaders at a “First Look” event next year...

This pivotal film marks the first time that a Hindi film will open the festival since 1997, the inaugural year of the Jio Mami Mumbai Film Festival.

Set in a small town in Uttar Pradesh from which the film takes its name, Aligarh is the story of a professor (Manoj Bajpayee) fired for his sexuality and a young journalist (Rajkummar Rao) who tells his story to the world. Based on true events, the film follows Dr. S R Siras, a professor at the Aligarh Muslim University who, when discovered to be homosexual, was fired from his position. The film depicts the unlikely friendship between Dr. Siras and a reporter investigating his first big story, a relationship that will change them both forever.
