The film was written as Justin Bernard Head's senior thesis at the now defunct Art Institute of California Orange County. He was inspired to write the script after having seen images of incredibly thin models and pondering what their life might be like off stage. He wrote the script in 2014 and spent the next year finessing it before finally shooting the film in spring 2015.
