I am not a big fan of Nepalese movie but this movie is a gem. This movie contains everything it should - humor, a good story line, actors who can actually act, and most importantly, originality. The strongest features of this movie are its story line and its cast. The dots are perfectly connected. Narration has been done on a good pace such that it is neither too fast to miss crucial moments nor too slow to make it boring. The second half of the movie ends as predicted and so could have been made better, but the characters are relatable and the originality of screen play is good enough to hold the audience's attention. Overall, a must watch among Nepalese movies!
This movie was new to the Nepali movie industry. Older Nepali movies had over the top action heros and cliched storyline. Kabbadi was unique and is masterpiece by Ram Babu Gurung.
This movie is another good example of alternative trends in Nepalese cinema industry. In contrast to traditional stream which is heavily influenced by Bollywood, this movie focuses on typical local story in Nepalese lifestyle. The title "Kabaddi", which literally means a kind of game played between two teams, justifies the story. As the title states, it is a game played between a local tough guy, Kaazi, and an outsider, Bibek, to win over girl Maiyaa. Movie makers have taken an even-handed approach to explain the cause for both parties. The characters chosen seems familiar to a Nepali audience. Enough effort has been made to tell the story in an easy pace so that audience won't feel bored. This movie is a good mix-up of comedy and twists, but rarely splashes the viewers with emotions. Technically, it is a good movie, but it is obviously not a high-tech based movie.
As much as I enjoy Rajesh dai's comical dialogues. This is the way forward for Nepalese movie industry. Cinematography is just lovely, view of Mustang is breathtaking and the screenplay is absolutely amazing this shows how beautiful nepal and its landscape with Himalayan ranges to tarian plane. Very beautiful cinema and culture
Acting for Dayahang Rai nothing short of perfect. Dailouges in the movies are so humorous. "dukhi aatma" is my favorite. Movie has everything you could as for in a movie, perfect mix of great screenplay and cinematography.
I will highly recommend this movie to anyone.
