The Dark Shack

This movie proves what Hollywood does not practice. A great movie doesn't need famous name actors, oversized sets, expensive special effects. All it needs is plausibility in the plot, and decent acting. This has it all.

The movie tells the story of Melany who is kidnapped by criminals then detain at a shack in the forest haunted by an evil spirit. This is not a technically perfect film, but the defaults of it add to the uneasy and gritty overall experience. The special effects, coming from an other age, are very unusual and charming, the acting pleasant and authentic (We can actually tell they're having such a good time making this picture). I see here and there things that could have been done differently in the edit room, the story could have been refine or shorten, there's some lack of motivation with some characters and may be some plot holes but otherwise I just went thru this movie without a blink.

Always a delight to find unique films like this one.

Best microbudget film I've seen in a while. If you are in the mood for a suspense, thriller; watch this film! It really was nice to watch a movie that is made with such passion and freedom. There are really only 7 actors in this film. All together, the acting was superb. The Dark Shack flows so well, and without any confusion. I seriously may re-watch this movie with my fiance or friends very soon, and it would be totally worth it.

I have utmost respect for the filmmakers involves in this. To my knowledge, the movie was shot with a low budgets, a skeleton crews, using simple props or whatever was available, scenes was shot without obtaining filming permits.

I can see fans of the old good 70's classic horror films liking an indie horror flick such as this. The film was definitely made on a budget, but fans of the genre will find something to like in this piece.

This movie should still be regarded as an inspiration around the world.

I have a love/hate relationship with horror movies. Sometimes I enjoy then, sometime I don't. I watched ''The Dark Shack'' without having eared nothing about it before, without expecting anything from it. I was pretty surprised when I found out that this was an art house kind of flick.

The originality and creative aspect of this indie film made me get lost in it. There's a weird bipolarity switching from playful to very suspenseful. The atmosphere brought was unconventional and wild.

Of course the low budget aspect of it acts as a crutch at some point. The story takes time to evolve but it worth the great moments and the deviant mood from it.

''The Dark Shack'' brought a bit of freshness and colour to my film routine so for this I'll enter it in the love section.

I found this movie on a VOD service, and since it had a solid 7.6 rating on this website decided to give it a watch. What a mistake. I have never before seen a movie so utterly devoid of entertainment.. The thought that the individuals involved in creating this trash might make money through tricking unsuspecting viewers into watching this sickens me. Don't get me wrong, terrible low-budget horror movies can be fantastic entertainment. But this film... It can't even succeed at being so bad that it's funny. The characters are shown to be pointlessly loathsome, and the majority of the plot revolves around not the supernatural element, but an offensive duo of criminals and would- be rapists. I honestly hope all involved never act/direct again. I want my $4 back!!!

Go sit in a dark shack for two hours instead. You'll enjoy it more.
