The Dark Shack

An independent film full of nice ideas but maybe without the budget to fully realise some of their potential. Nicely done however. Performance wise; they did an excellent job. The film hangs around characters and I thought they pulled it off amazingly! I found the film less absorbing at first; there's enough mystery to keep my interest but you want to hang in there for the end. Worth a look!

Fantastic film! Really worth a watch. The direction from Dupont and performance from the cast are brilliant in my opinion and really put the viewer in the centre of the action. You'll sometimes find yourself seemingly a step ahead. The plot twist feels a little predictable.Though, I'd recommend this film if you're a fan of underground cinema or suspense thrillers, you should certainly give this film a look.

I found this movie on a VOD service, and since it had a solid 7.6 rating on this website decided to give it a watch. What a mistake. I have never before seen a movie so utterly devoid of entertainment.. The thought that the individuals involved in creating this trash might make money through tricking unsuspecting viewers into watching this sickens me. Don't get me wrong, terrible low-budget horror movies can be fantastic entertainment. But this film... It can't even succeed at being so bad that it's funny. The characters are shown to be pointlessly loathsome, and the majority of the plot revolves around not the supernatural element, but an offensive duo of criminals and would- be rapists. I honestly hope all involved never act/direct again. I want my $4 back!!!

Go sit in a dark shack for two hours instead. You'll enjoy it more.

I love film and I love it even more when the people behind pull it off with little resources but lots of passion and determination. Really! People don't realize what it takes to create such a project. They probably finance it with their own money and won't even make it back. I know I'm an artist myself.

For unknown actors, this is pretty well done. Not a lot of over-acting that frequently comes from indie movies. Some of the VFX stuff is obviously low-budget but it didn't takes my off the story so I just looked pass it. Cinematography is good but a bit over saturated for a dark subject matter. There's improvement to be made in this movie but on the other hand, there's a lot of potential and promises for those filmmakers.

My advice is to definitely give it a try if you like underground and unusual flicks! If you only appreciate main stream movies you shouldn't go nearby. So don't expect the latest horror blockbuster.

I actually watched the ending of the film twice because there are some amazing and creative scenes; it's the best part of the movie.

I look forward to seeing more from those guys.

I have a love/hate relationship with horror movies. Sometimes I enjoy then, sometime I don't. I watched ''The Dark Shack'' without having eared nothing about it before, without expecting anything from it. I was pretty surprised when I found out that this was an art house kind of flick.

The originality and creative aspect of this indie film made me get lost in it. There's a weird bipolarity switching from playful to very suspenseful. The atmosphere brought was unconventional and wild.

Of course the low budget aspect of it acts as a crutch at some point. The story takes time to evolve but it worth the great moments and the deviant mood from it.

''The Dark Shack'' brought a bit of freshness and colour to my film routine so for this I'll enter it in the love section.
