Some of the stories have already been covered by numerous crime shows; better crime shows. While I feel for the victims and their families, I don't know why they'd want to be interviewed by Elizabeth. She looks like she's bored out of her mind and falling asleep. Every shot has her nearly closing her eyes and she's so disengaged. She was horrible to her cast members on Grand Caymen. I feel like her true personality came out there, so I'm not sure why I bothered starting this series. I like true crime, but Elizabeth's lack of journalistic ability really shines through. No, I'm not an Armie fan, so it has nothing to do with her personal life/trauma/drama, etc.
Before starting this show I had no idea who Elizabeth Chambers was. Immediately upon starting the first episode I knew this was really about her and not the people whose stories she was supposed to be sharing. Instead, we get to see her sitting on a couch with a full frozen face of makeup posing like she's in some kind of reality tv show. Victims are sharing their stories and the camera cuts to her literally just shaking her head. If you want to be on tv that's fine but don't do it under the guise of helping people. She truly seems like a vapid narcissist and these victims and their stories deserve so much better.
I feel like the title is correct, but everything else feels rushed. I feel for the subjects of the show, however, I kept being distracted however by how awkward and rushed it feels. Has the host (?) ever interacted with another person before? Very uncomfortable. I will not be bothering to watch the rest of the series, it seems like a waste of time; to witness the host constantly interject the Host's personal life in to a show about genuine people who deserve a better platform. There are better shows, and podcasts out there that can actually emote some empathy towards actual victims without using it as a launching pad for mediocre programming.
The 1st 4 episodes were intriguing and fairly solid, with not too much over dramatized story telling. IMO the last 2 cliff Hanging episodes may have put a nail in the coffin of any possible return for this series. What could have been sumerized in a half an episode and split with another story was beaten like a dead horse for 5 times the attention that story deserved. I feel if it stayed with the original tragectory we'd have a season 2, unfortunately watching paint dry during episode 5 and 6 most likely means we won't see this beautiful woman return for a sophomore season. Ashame I was getting into the grove of watching this weekly at the start.
I love this show. It's phenomenal and relevant! Sadly, the very reasons why this show was created is why there are any negative reviews at all. I applaud Elizabeth and her efforts. I believe that Elizabeth is being targeted much like the people she is defending, making the content all the more believable and understood. It takes courage to be a woman on the fighting side of injustice and I look forward to supporting the show in any way I can. Let's educate ourselves and become better advocates. Hopefully, justice comes a bit swifter with renewed awareness around the topics of harassment and violence.
