If you're into zombie movies then this is a good one to throw on the tv. Not to give away any spoilers, The ending was perfect for this film.
When the Fever Breaks is a movie made with one of the smallest budgets possibly, probably written, produced, directed by a few friends that decided to try their luck with a horror, a cheaper experience, especially if you bind it with the zombie or in the woods genre.
What I truly disliked about it is the fact that they didn't try to develop their own vision, but copied everything already seen on the screen, in order to make it feel like a movie. So we have the most stereotypical characters combined with standard dialogue lines and reactions that make no sense but always seem to find their way in these movies. The action is easy to predict, fighting scenes are sped up but constantly with shaking blackouts, and overall a bore of a view.
When you start from rock bottom, usually, your only way is up, but somehow sadly here they decided to crawl along, move a little and call it a day. I wish I could appreciate the effort put into it, but there is none, even tho they found a way to make this work, a horror in a house, zombies outside, easily a tribute to Night of the Living Dead, yet the final product is weak and uninteresting.
I say, do try, and try again, only that next time, be brave and show us something different. Something that came from your own imagination and not copying what others did so many times before. I look forward into that.
Cheers!

I happened to stumble upon the 2019 zombie movie "When the Fever Breaks" here late in 2020. And being a huge fan of all things zombie, of course I had to sit down and watch this movie from writers Lucy Clay and Tymaine Clay. Granted, I hadn't even heard about the movie prior to watching it, but it being a zombie movie was more than sufficient to make me sit down and watch it.
And it turns out that "When the Fever Breaks" was just another generic zombie movie which borrowed heavily from "Night of the Living Dead", except it just didn't manage to reach that timeless classic zombie movie to the ankles. "When the Fever Breaks" just didn't bring anything new or interesting to the table, so it was essentially just stuff that has been done and seen countless times before in other, and better, zombie movies.
The acting in the movie was adequate, taking into consideration that this was not a top of the line Hollywood production. At least it seemed like the actors and actresses involved in the movie were having fun.
A zombie movie usually needs to have gory effects and good visceral gore, "When the Fever Breaks" didn't have either of that. It was low budget and low key effects, but at least it was slightly more than just people painted grey in the face and having colored darker circles around the eyes.
I managed to endure through the ordeal, though I was hardly entertained, much less impressed. "When the Fever Breaks" is not a noteworthy addition to the zombie genre.
My rating of "When the Fever Breaks" lands on a three out of ten stars. For a zombie movie, "When the Fever Breaks" just didn't pack enough of a bite, much less of a groan.

This Indie version of yet another Zombie movie has its characters struggling to survive among friends. Thats what separates it between this zombie movie and the rest . It has good production value with good interior sound and coloring. It's original and not bad for a genre that is a bit saturated.
There are a lot of zombies around (especially in the indie space) unfortunately most are just a cash grab that don't offer much in more that blood and gore. However this one feels true and honest in it's approach to the genre. Plus its a well crafted film that is actually scary. Imagine that, a scary zombie movie... who would have thought. George Romero would be proud, definitely worth checking out.
