Randy Bachman's Vinyl Tap: Every Song Tells a Story

great musician and story teller

Randy Bachman is performing his biggest songs in front of an audience in his home town of Winnipeg. These are some of the biggest hits from the Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive. He tells the stories behind each song.

This is a concert film and it has some iconic hits. The best part is Randy recounting the stories behind the hits. He is a great musician. On top of that, he is a very good story teller. In a way, that probably goes hand in hand with his songwriting. He has great charms and great stories. He's also dropping some big names. I do have to admit that I thought American Woman was about a woman.

Interesting stories behind many of the songs

It was cool to hear Randy tell the stories behind many of the Guess Who and BTO songs, even how The Guess Who's name came to be.

He would tell a little story and then sing the song behind that story.

The only issue I had was when they played the songs. Randy can't sing anymore, he basically talks the lines, and his other band members take turns singing the songs that Randy can't even attempt. So you are basically listening to a cover band do great songs. Sure, it was still nice to hear the tunes but just not the same as the original gems.

A fun diversion.

Rather interesting stories about life as a musician, and the inspirations for some of the great songs from The Guess Who and BTO.
