Plennitsa

This is the 2nd movie by this director & i see a pattern here where he is interested in dealing with people who had lost something very dear to them & the effects it has on their minds. Unfortunately this movie is not good at all, the idea of how the anti hero went mad because of his loss is a bit interesting but the rest of the plot is very generic, low budget movie. On top of that you get to see the way Russians are interacting with each other, this only adds more sorrow to the viewer.

Conclusion: If you want to see an average thriller you'll go through this, but if you came to watch a good movie go see the 1st movie by this director "Rejection" (2011) which is way more interesting. I have to say that it's always a shame to see a director who created a good movie make a really bad one after that (as with Ang Lee, who sometimes makes great movies & then there are the complete BS like "Life of Pi" which really makes me want to throw up)

This Russian/Ukrainian movie opens at a gas station where a woman gets abducted in her car while waiting for the station's attendant. The story moves swiftly onto an unsympathetic woman called Lena who appears to be willing to cheat on her husband to gain promotion at work. She seems to have a history of doing this while her husband stays at home getting drunk. The husband goes after the Red Mercedes shareholder man who is the one Lena is most likely to jump into bed with next. But Lena gets abducted by a serial killer who he identifies with as his late wife. He has the need to kill his wife over and over again through picking on the same type of woman his wife had been. Lena is held by the serial killer at a desolate spot where only wolves can hear her cry for help. So a good setup for this thrill-ride which is slightly reminiscent of a Lifetime movie. There are no pointless sex scenes and there only a few mild profanities in the version I watched. I should point out that this was a 71 minute one with English subtitles and not the 90 minute running time that this TV movie is usually given as. After watching this it tempts me to search out more Russian-made thrillers which would hopefully also be in the style of TV movies how they used to be made.
