    Poker Face redeemed itself.

Following the misfire of episode four, the showrunners of Poker Face appear to have taken a hard look in the mirror and wisely opted for an extreme makover for the series. The result is what Poker Face's fans wanted to watch after waiting over a year for new episodes. This episode feels like a love letter to the show's first season, capturing the original spark that drew audiences in. At its heart, the episode delves into the aching psyche of a once-great pitcher, now weathered by time and stripped of the talent that once made him a hometown hero. His emotional unraveling collides with the arrival of a challenging newcomer that eventually becomes his blackmailer.

In addition to the correct performances and an acceptable script, we have a carefully curated soundtrack. With tracks from Springsteen, Browne, and America threading through the episode, the music doesn't just decorate scenes, it deepens them, sprinkling the story with an exact pitch of nostalgia that perfectly complements the narration. I hope the show keeps going on that track in the future.

Swing and a miss, Gdi CARL.

The plot is a bit thin unlike the cheese spread we get numerous commentaries on, like it's taste and texture and possible side effects ?

If you're on a losing streak, why not make bank on it ? (shhhh don't tell anyone tho !) They had it all figured out well except carl.

It did feel like they dropped the ball along the way with the cringey lsd trip for charlie and somewhat vague investigation.

It's different kind of murder than the usuals the guy didn't mean to do it but panicked and covered it up, no one really seemed to be bothered by the murder and only upon charlies trademark busy bodying did it get solved.

Well acted by most of them, nice effects.

But this season still hasn't really hit a home run yet which i hope doesn't affect season 3 options.

    Baseball can be very dangerous.

This episode is set in Alabama and centers around a horrible minor league baseball team, the Cheesemongers. Apparently, they are close to setting an all-time record for most losses in a row...and several of the players decide to make sure this DOES happen. Why? Because they plan on deliberately throwing the games and cashing in with bookies. But a monkey wrench is tossed into their plans...and it culminates, naturally, in death. So it's up to Charlie to save the day and expose the crime.

The previous episode, "A Taste for Human Blood" was a horrible episode...by far the worst in the series. In fact, it's the only bad episode...so "Hometown Hero" can't help but be better! So is this one any good? Well, it's not a great episode but it is a competent one and is well written and worth seeing.
