Just watched the season finale of The Neighborhood and there's a lot of Malcolm and Marty spin-off stuff in the last 20 minutes. When I heard the news that CBS is not moving forward with their spin-off, I was disappointed because both are such great characters. But when I saw the kind of characters they are planning for the spin-off-introduced in this episode-I can understand CBS's decision. They all felt like a mix of typical sitcom characters, and I was really bored watching them. The actors were good, but their characters were not interesting or funny.
A short 5-10 minute part showing what the spin-off might be like would've been fine. But 20 minutes was too much. I like this show the way it is-the characters, the comedy, the vibe, everything works. Please just lose the spin-off stuff. But I think they're planning to keep going with it in the final season, which I don't think is a good idea. This show is already great, and it shouldn't change just because of spin-off plans.
They did this before too, when they introduced a new neighbor couple-one with a man who had two wives-near Calvin and Dave's houses. Maybe they were planning to set up new neighbors for when Malcolm and Marty leave for their spin-off. But all those plans were cancelled too.
Anyway, this is one of the best comedy shows streaming right now. Please try to keep it the same as it was-just like the first 20 minutes (19th episode) of the 40-minute finale.
Final words: Drop the spin-off stuff if you don't want to lose some of your audience.
