Life During the War

The powerful moving film which for us Ukrainians is an embodiment of horrendous ongoing attack thrust upon our country by Russia.

The advice dispensed at the 16th minute of the voice over resonates with us as if it is applied to Kharkiv, Kyiv, Sumy and other Ukrainian cities under the barrage of Russian missiles and drones:

....When you hear sirens or antiaircraft guns, you must get under cover at once. You must not stand staring up at the sky; that is the most dangerous thing to do...keep away from the windows... (end of quote)

Therefore it was even more painful to the movies' closing remark that later in 1941 ...in a twist of Hitler has rescinded his invasion plans redirecting the might of his airforce on the frontlines of the conflict with Russia... (end of quote)

Again and again, the stereotype of Hitler waging war with Russia resurfaces. Where is Ukraine in this hindsight who took on itself the sheer brunt of Nazi divisions and whose territory and people were decimated?

To say 'the war with Soviet Union' would have been fairer for the proper reflection upon history. And why WAR with the West while CONFLICT on the Eastern front? This echoes the blame game over Ukraine whose advocates push the belief that the guilt lies far from Russia.
