    Good until the CGI....

Definitely a cross between Bear Grylls and Predator, but you could probably make that conclusion from the synopsis alone. I was definitely into the movie until the CGI. There is a good chance that I would have been more satisfied with traditional effects like makeup, prosthetics, a mask, or just a guy in a suit.

    Nice little surprise.

I thought the basic concept of Mr TV Survivalist out in the woods facing something unknown was effective. The main actor was believable and surprisingly watchable,he pretty much carries the movie and I loved the Tom Hanks Easter eggs. The reveal would have been a lot more effective practically done and in the dark,I did find the epilogue also effective. A good effort hampered by budget, had a few terrific little scenes, and the script, concept and lead were all rather good.

Stop on this one if you're not sure what to watch

A pleasant surprise. I did not have lot of expectations from this movie but yet another Canadian surprise. The movie starts out of the jungle but catches up with the theme very soon. As always the case, the main attraction arrives late. Still there is some tension which keeps the movie going and if you're anything like me, you will enjoy the jungle survival shown even though we have seen it in documentaries a lot. The direction is good and the acting could have been a little better but still the main guy have done a good job. The CGI..well.. are OK, not a lot of them but the rabbit scene will make it up for that. Overall, not the worst i have seen. I enjoyed it As i said, not sure what to watch..give this movie a try..

    Nicely tense!

In a nod to self-filmed survival shows, a TV host is dropped in the remote Canadian wilderness to film himself for 5 days and then get picked up by his production team. Things start to go wrong, and he is convinced someone or something is messing with him. There are a few actual survival tips given in the early parts of the film.

It's probably best not to know too much about what's going on before you've seen it. Thanks to a largely one-man performance by the underrated Chris Diamantopoulos, this film has a believability that another actor wouldn't have been able to carry off alone (imagine going from playing Moe in the three stooges movie to this - amazing).

I was a little puzzled that the image on the poster appeared no place in the film. It was one of the reasons i picked the movie.

a very good thriller ,sci-fi movie 8 out of 10

just to share my personal opinion about this movie. The movie about a guy filming a man VS nature show ,but things turns into a man VS the unknown . while this movie suffers from some bad acting (the crew-the wife) but the hero of the movie doing a pretty good job and that's all matter because its all about one man surviving scenario , other than that this movie is guaranteed to put you on the edge of your seat , the suspense tension moments , surprises , all are there to make one of the very few good thriller,Sci-Fi movies i saw this year ,though i couldn't help but to compare some scenes with Arnold Schwarzenegger Predator movie . also there is some realistic scene about skinning an animal that might anger some people and to those i say please stick on watching Lassie . All in All a pretty good movie 8/10

    • Trivia
Filmed in the style of the documentary series "Survivorman" with Canadian survivalist Les Stroud. The premise is nearly identical; Les is dropped in foreboding areas with only a small backpack of seemingly random objects. Les then utilizes what is left with him, instructing the viewer along the way, on survival techniques. Man Vs Wild alternates in POV (Point of View) and static shots with a video camera on either a tripod or the ground, and cameras mounted to selfie sticks or mounted to his person. One specific similarity between the movie and its apparent inspiration is the scene in which the lead character starts a fire with a polished soda can; its a technique Stroud successfully demonstrated in his series.
