The way this episode was filmed, the direction, the pace of it was so incredibly boring. I can't believe that someone could film such a boring episode with such a good story that took place in it. I have streamed it for more than three hours on HBO Max. I had to pause every few minutes because I couldn't endure the boring atmosphere. Then I would read something or do something around the house and continue streaming after a while. This is one of the worst cases of bad directing that I have ever seen in my life. And this comes from a person who had been bored maybe three times in her so far five decades long life.
This show has been steadily declining since season 3 so I'm not sure why I would expect this series to get its act together but this episode was particularly bad (as is this whole season).
The much anticipated wedding grandeur was basically a wet noodle of an event and instantly forgettable, providing no real tension building. The result was an episode that felt like filler and that's odd for an episode airing so late in the season.
Also, call me picky but am I really supposed to believe that the girls weeping while receiving a tongue lashing from an aunt are really capable of revolution? Such bad writing.

Why is Joan constantly moving her head and nobody notices. There is even a ceiling shot of all the handmaids and only Joan is moving her head. You think she is gonna mess everything up and all the handmaids are gonna get killed. She takes to many chances and the whole plan will fall apart like in the previous episode. I guess the constant near exposures lead to a more suspenseful situation, but it takes away from a more truthful story line.
Serena and Aunt Lydia performances were more with there character and lead to a more believable episode.
Overall that's why I give the episode a 5 star review.

When Serena was walking down the isle, the Eurovison-theme is playing!
It´s a huge music-comeptition in Europe, that has it´s final and semi-finals this week!
An amazing easter-egg!
--------
But i really think this episode was great, slow, but great. It will be amazing to se what happens next.
And i really like Serena as a character, she has gone through so much, and her ark is amazing to follow.
There is only now 2 episodes left of this series, and I hope they end it well.
The first season was the best of course, but now in the end i think they are finding their roots a little. That is good.

Whoever penned this episode-and whoever thought it was a good idea to pair it with that ear-splitting score-really ought to be dragged out back and left to bake in the sun, because this was an absolute slog from start to finish. The narrative felt like it was stitched together on the fly: major plot threads pop in and vanish without resolution, characters act out of turn or completely out of character, and the dialogue veers from cringe-worthy exposition dumps to awkward small talk that rings hollow. You can practically hear the writer shrugging halfway through, like, "Eh, they won't notice."
As for the music, I've heard more inspired melodies humming from malfunctioning refrigerators. The composer seems to have thrown in every dramatic chord progression they could find-none of which match the actual mood of the scenes. Climactic confrontations are underscored by downbeat piano thuds that suck all the tension out of the room, while so-called "emotional" moments blast you with cheesy, overbearing strings that feel like they belong in a bargain-bin soap opera. The result is a jarring, mismatched mashup that distracts more than it enhances.
Visually, the pacing drags on for interminable stretches; you find yourself staring at background scenery, waiting-hoping-for something, anything, interesting to happen. By the time the episode finally limps to a close, you're left wondering why you even tuned in. In short, this episode is a masterclass in how to alienate your audience with sloppy storytelling and tone-deaf scoring. Avoid at all costs-your sanity (and your eardrums) will thank you.
