Horrible one of the most boring all time.

At first the quick disappearance is intriguing but after an hour of nothing to go another 30 minutes of tedious scene after scene I swear you'll be yelling in your mind when the hell is this going to end. It's just super slow and pointless. The acting wals hard to judge because I think they were decent actors but to make that movie work just wasn't a possibility due to the plot and direction given to the actors. I think thats why I land on three because the cinematography and thw placements of the camera angles were not bad actually I think it helped the film tremendously but overall that story told in that way was weak.

    Static Wide Shots of Emptiness

I randomly stabled upon this film in my recommendations and Tittle drew me in "The House Was Not Hungry Then" as I think most people who decided to watch, but this film is lacking to say the least. It feels like this was a Short Film probably 10-15min. Max that was constructed into a full feature, because this film dragged on, I was at the 30min. Mark, and wondering to myself this is abit torturous. I know its a artistic choice to shoot wide in room and hallways and commit to it throughout, but when the film lacks story and depth and its so long, you start to wonder were these choices made out of laziness.

    Experimental and slow

Which if that is something you won't like, you probably shouldn't watch.

It's slow, it is static, there is long periods of nothing and yet the film is still oddly beautiful and touching. And I'll be frank, if this movie had caught me on a not great day, I would have also shut it off like a couple other reviewers had. But I am so glad I didn't.

I will say it's less horror and more tense drama. There are no jump scares and no boogieman with a knife.

Look, if you don't like experimental then don't watch this. But if you do, I think you'll be as pleasantly surprised as my husband and I were.

I don't want to give anything away, so I'll stop my review there.

    Oh dear God...

While I had never heard about this 2025 horror movie titled "The House Was Not Hungry Then" from writer and director Harry Aspinwall, as I stumbled upon it by random chance, of course I opted to watch it on account of it being a horror movie that I hadn't already seen. And I am a big fan of all things horror.

The movie was devoid of an interesting storyline, and was running on what might have been a script consisting of a single handwritten page. Talk about a pointless and boring story. I have no idea how writer and director Harry Aspinwall seriously could muster to conjure up something so bland and irrelevant, and even more impressively managing to put it on film.

As for "The House Was Not Hungry Then" being a horror movie, no. Just no. There was nothing scary about this movie, unless you consider how utterly pointless and the level of rubbish that passed for being a movie as horror, well then, by all means, then you're in for quite a treat, because "The House Was Not Hungry Then" was a waste of 92 minutes of film.

I was not familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie, and I can't claim that I found the acting performances to be particularly impressive. But then again, the actors and actresses virtually had nothing to work with in terms of script, storyline and character gallery.

A lot of the movie was spent looking at empty shots of rooms or hallways in the house, with people walking past the windows or standing outside the windows and having conversation. But the problem was that the sound was so low that you couldn't hear anything but muffled mumbling. And truth be told, looking at shots of empty rooms or hallways just doesn't count as being proper entertainment for me.

Do yourself a huge favor and stay well clear of the atrocity that is "The House Was Not Hungry Then". Some of us literally suffered through 92 minutes of pure Hellish torment by sitting through the dumpster fire that is "The House Was Not Hungry Then". We did it so you don't have to; you're quite welcome.

But hey, if you think looking at strangely angled shots of empty rooms and hallways as being entertaining, then you're in for a stellar 92 minutes, should you opt to watch writer and director Harry Aspinwall's 2025 movie "The House Was Not Hungry Then".

My rating of writer and director Harry Aspinwall's 2025 horror movie "The House Was Not Hungry Then" lands on a generous one out of ten stars.

A Slow Burn without the Spark

I really tried to give The House Was Not Hungry Then a fair shot, but it completely failed to hold my attention. The entire movie is shot from a fixed-angle perspective, almost like a GoPro was mounted to the wall and left to run-an interesting concept on paper, but painfully dull in execution. What could have been atmospheric or tense just felt stagnant and lifeless. The pacing dragged, the tension never built, and I found myself checking the time more than following the plot. Unless you're a die-hard fan of experimental formats with minimal movement and dialogue, this one's probably not worth your time.
