This film depicts a haunting true crime story that took place in Phoenix, AZ. It is so beautifully written with context clues weaved throughout, bringing everything together in a way that makes you want MORE. It is a twisted but true story full of clever dialogue, great acting, and even some heartwarming moments. This team clearly has a lot of talent, passion, and creativity. This story is dark, gruesome, hard to believe, and truly frightening to think about. Darren Burch hit a home run writing this. I really hope this entire story is brought to life so we can see if they ever catch this creep!

In Monster's Hands is a real life story about a horrendous crime. It's real police work and processes. One thing my wife and I quickly realized is that there's much more to police work than just looking at the scene and taking fingerprints. From early in the film we felt an emotional connection with officer Burch. In Monster's Hands portrays the frustration and emotion of an officer who really cares about people and the importance of a loving family. It can't be an easy job. Especially when there isn't much in the way of clues. In fact only one tiny clue that we remember. I'm anxious to see how this case plays out.
This was so good and I wanted to know more but at the same time I was afraid to know more as I watched the movie through my fingertips. I love and worried about the main character, Darren Burch, and his struggle of his home life and at the same time hoping he quickly stopped the monster. I loved his supportive wife Coleen. The acting of the elderly couple was amazing. The wife was so good and I could feel her pain and anguish. The "Monster" was very unnerving and I was worried about the lady in the airport. I hope she was not one of his victims. I was sitting on the edge of my seat. It was amazing!!
This short film is a pilot for a TV miniseries and is based on a true story from a true-crime book trilogy called "Twisted but True." This film adaption is from book 2 in thst book series and the chapter is titled, "That One Case," which chronicles the investigation of a homicidal sexual predator targeting elderly couples across the country.
It's an independent film, but has the production values and excellent ensemble acting of a top-notch Hollywood project.
The only two downsides to this short film are: 1) Since it is a pilot for a series, it ends on a cliffhanger, but hopefully it will get picked up and the journey across the country for this monster will continue.
2) The subject matter of a brutal home invasion/rape of an elderly couple is as shocking as it is violent. This could be triggering for those not accustomed to true-crime material.
However, for those able to handle this harsh and cruel true story are in for a compelling and scary treat.

This is a terribly tragic story that was so respectfully done. As brutal and sad that this occurred it is as important to know that people like Darren are out there doing just as good a job in putting a stop to these people. The cast was fantastic and even Darren made a cameo. Pamela Fields is an absolute DYNAMO. She brings the heart and soul to this production and was absolutely Phenomenal. Shef has such a keen eye and his attention to detail is perfect. It captures the struggle and reality of life on so many different levels. Great film, great start but what happens next? We need more to put this story to rest.

- TriviaIn Det. Darren Burch's nightmare flashback scene of an unconscious young woman burning to death in a car, the actress portraying the soon-to-be victim of the car fire is actually the assistant director Sam Goldman. What is remarkable about this is Sam is multi-tasking as she is not only acting in the scene but also controlling the delicate slow zoom close-up of herself burning in the car - with her eyes closed.
