    Simbu potboiler

Another goody cool Vagabond hero like umpteen Tamil movies. And he falls for a fair maiden college girl. Situations conveniently conjures up to make girl meet boy (accident, phone misplaced etc as per the imagination- seems like script was written during shooting itself) and boy get close to girl, make friends etc. The usual drill. Without reading too much, one can still see how subtly the movie promotes stalking women, treating the wooing of women as some commodity etc and glorifying it as a love story. This continuously happens in almost every Tamil movie (unless it is a psycho movie, which is another issue). The roadside romeo being projected as cool kid who is just making passes at girls in public places with his sidekicks. In fact, here Simbu's character proudly flaunts this aspect in the climax of the movie.

The positive part of the movie is Simbu's one-man show, where he somehow manages to keep the proceedings from falling apart totally. Giving him good company is Santhanam as the sidekick, with his trademark comedy. Also, the director tries to add some flair to mostly ordinary scenes. For example, even in climax, any potboiling action or fights are eschewed and the end is relatively quiet in sync with the overall tone of the movie.

Overall, there isn't really much to rave about. This is a Simbu show all the way. If you are his fan, you would love it. For others, it may be a drag.

Yet another masala movie targeted to please STR fans who have been missing him for three years on screen

Honestly this time before I start to review thought to give you the verdict for this movie. This is just another masala movie which primly targets the core fans of Simbhu who had missed him for three years on screen. Viewer discretion is strongly recommended for general audience. I was waiting patiently for the movie to end otherwise some people around me got up and ran away after the interval couldn't find them again. But I saw mostly positive reviews for the movie don't was it only me who didn't find this movie interesting? Usual story of a hero without job falls for a beautiful girl and wins her heart. There is a villain who desperately wants to marry the heroine, whether our hero wins his love or not that's the crux of the story. Director Vijay Chander didn't take much effort to build up the screen play as well eventually it was dragging. Editing wise there were so many mishaps. Songs were mere fillers and sounding same style over that almost all songs sung by STR in his own style auto tuned by S.S Thamman. Coming to the Cast Simbhu – Santhanam pair first they have tried to recreate their usual magic but they fail because both of them seem to be matured and old for what they deliver thinking of college boy comedy. Felt really didn't suit them. STR-Hansika pair was also not as expected. STR after three years with less of maturity in acting still I feel he is in same mode of his gymnastics, circus style dancing and reading songs (sorry singing). If still Simbhu is thinking to survive in this cine field he has to know this is the right time to change. Moreover this multi talented star has mostly bagged on other lead stars spoofing and imitating them throughout the movie to please those fans as well. Felt over done and cheap trick. Simbhu you have a long way to go with strong competition in Tamil cinema now. Do come out of your closet. Don't just entertain your fans alone do think of the sensible crowd as well. Hansika was the only positive factor for the movie she was beautiful that's it nothing more than that. She exactly resembled yester year heroine Kushboo as usual. I went to the movie with no subterfuge but came out with a head ache. I am sure if there was no delay or litigation on this movie it would be a drop in the ocean. Thanks to this delay helped the movie in marketing. Note: I like STR and had loved his talents in so many of his previous ventures. So this is not someone who is anti Simbhu.

A fun movie with nothing much to offer

You can't say many things good about this movie. But you cannot saying anything that is so bad as well. For what the movie has set out to be i have to say, it actually works very well. I in fact enjoyed the movie and don't feel that it was a bad movie The biggest flaw anyone would notice in the movie is a lack of continuity and the scenes just feels separate. There nothing emphatic about the story and it just does not keep things together. Every scene in this movie can be watched separately and can be enjoyed, you don't have to watch the complete movie to have the fun. It was just like watching adhitya channel, so in that sense that is a negative to the movie but if you just want to laugh throughout and listen to witty dialogues this movie is certainly to go for.

The movie although suffers from many flaws, it would have been lot better if 2 things were taken care of, unwanted stunts and songs. If STR had not done this am sure this movie would be much better.

Having heard nothing positive about the movie i went in with a very low mindset and perhaps that's what made me enjoy the movie even more. Simbu and Santhanam steal the show every time and needless to say simbu punch one-liners are witty and sometimes well picked by the actor. Rather than blowing his own trumpet he sometimes tries to convey a message and works as a likable character.

I was particularly happy with the closure of the movie. It started off being nothing and end there, which is actually not bad if you think about it. You can think of some movie which starts amazingly well and ends really really bad, that is hellbender, but here it is simple, subtle and the hero was what he was in the beginning. No major transformation, no unruly masala fights at the end, so in those sense it was good.

Comedy was good, every character had done justice to their roles and is good to watch in the scenes they are in and kudos to the director for providing the right depth to each actor. This movie will not make you go wow, but you will not hate it as well. It is particularly hard to rate this movie, but go with absolutely no expectations and just have a good time with your family, you surely will.

    Ciao
