As a longtime fan of the original Duck Dynasty, I really wanted to like this revival. Unfortunately, it falls flat for one big reason: it forgot what made the original so great.
Willie was always the least interesting, least charismatic of the Robertson clan, and putting him front and center just proves he can't carry an entire show on his own. Without Phil's homespun wisdom and Jase's and Si's unpredictable antics, the heart and humor that drew millions of viewers is just missing.
To make matters worse, the revival tries to give more screen time to family members who were bit players for a reason. John Luke and Sadie were fine as occasional comic relief or heartfelt fillers in the old days, but here they're pushed as main characters and simply don't have the presence or spark to fill that bigger role.
It all feels forced, semi-scripted, and a little too sanitized. The original show was authentic, chaotic, and charming because it let the big personalities shine. This version feels like it's trying too hard to be safe, and in the process, it's just kind of boring.
There are still flickers of the old magic here and there, mainly when or Si does make brief appearances, but it's too little, too late. If you loved the original for its down-home life lessons and unpredictable family hijinks, this revival probably won't scratch that itch.
Here's hoping they figure out how to get the real stars back in the spotlight, before it's too late to revive The Revival.

The original duck dynasty was no doubt a classic featuring truly hilarious scenes and banter from the redneck, this one not as great as the original, but still an entertainer pleaser compared to most of the junk out there, uncle si is still a crowd favorite in this one and defintely still very funny, although it does have some flaws and the pacing still lacking, but still this is a very entertaining reboot, way better than the truly dreadful good times: black again which i thought it was the worst tv of the decade and 21st century.
Willie robertson is good.
Marginal thumbs up for me on this one.

I was a big fan of the original show and had high hopes for the revival. As much as I care about this family and their story, the new version just isn't holding my attention. It feels more like a showcase of wealth and privilege than a continuation of the original spirit. With the kids growing up in comfort and the parents now well-connected, the struggles and authenticity that made the original compelling seem to be missing. At times, it feels more like a reality show about affluence-almost Kardashian-like-than a heartfelt narrative.
It isn't the original by any means. The "actors" are not as well branded and one of the episodes was basically Willie watching his grandkids for an hour. Si is great. Everyone loves him. Most of the family is not in it, just Willie and his kids and grandkids. They don't use filthy language and try to keep it clean. It is better than other stuff out there, but needs some work.
I really like the family and the good things that they add. I was glad to see Godwin and Martin. They add a lot to the show, but aren't seen a lot.
It would be great to have the energy of the original, with the quick humor and things. We watched Willie's kids play pickleball for about an hour a few weeks ago. The show moves really slow and doesn't seem very exciting at times. We like all of them, just a little difficult to watch.
