Movie Review: Disappointing Climax

Initial Expectations and Disappointment

I wanted it to have a fantastic ending, but it didn't.

The worst climax I have ever seen.

There should have been a fantastic and real love story between Dia and Kenny at the end, but I guess the writers were obsessed with Christopher Nolan's Inception.

I was shocked at the end when the camera focused on the wall clock.

When the movie started, I thought it would be a great and fresh love story.

But it's very disappointing.

Positive Aspect: Mithila's Acting

However, Mithila was very good and cool in her acting.

5 stars goes to Mithila.

This dude, Victor Mukherjee, needs to spend more time learning and making stuff than he does consuming. Literally every frame of this project, as well as all of his previous so-called "endeavors," have been ripoffs or, as he would like to put it, "nods" or "homages," to his favorite shows and movies. These F. R. I. E. N. D. S. Watchers can never become actors or writers as much they have deluded themselves on the contrary.

Coming back to this movie, there's nothing else. Just nothing. Never until those typical final fifteen minutes would a character ever appear without a stupid smile on their face. The delivery of the lines make me think androids have long infiltrated among humans, while those embarrassing dialogues themselves are like translations of some kind of young adult novel - baseless "philosophical" discussions.

Bollywood has long been done, and I should have stayed away from this movie.

"Sweet Dreams" (2025) tells the story of Kenny, a recycling artist recovering from a breakup, and Dia, an aspiring songwriter in a complicated relationship. Their lives take an unexpected turn when they start connecting in their dreams, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy.

The movie introduces a fresh and unique concept, offering something new for audiences. The acting, cinematography, and overall presentation are commendable, giving it a feel-good vibe. However, the story lacks the depth and engagement it needs, and the pacing feels slow at times. Some scenes feel unnecessarily stretched, and a tighter runtime would have improved the experience.

If you're in the mood for a one-time watch with an unconventional premise, Sweet Dreams is worth a try. A solid 6/10.

When Kenny experienced the shock of a breakup, his subconscious mind began absorbing elements from the world around him, crafting a sweet dream that felt like reality. This dream gave him a purpose-a chase to stay occupied. In this pursuit, he encountered an imagined soulmate, whose changing form fueled a sense of disbelief, pushing him to continue searching for the visual identity he had been dreaming about. Similarly, Dia found herself in the same situation-two individuals in external identity of each other dreaming of their soulmates . This shared disbelief stems from their subconscious projections. When they finally connected on a soul-deep level, it became the most profound experience of their lives, helping them strip away the layers of external appearances to uncover their true soulmates.

If you believe in dreams, the magical world of dreams, this movie is a must watch. A beautiful creation that on one hand talks about how important is to dream and working hard to turn them into reality, on the other hand it also talks about the difference between reality and dreams.

The best part of this movie is definitely Amol Parashar. I was in awe mode after seeing him portraying a role which I think was definitely meant only for him. The innocence on his face, cute smile and those magical vibes while you watch him is enough to glue the viewers to the magical ride.

The lead actress Mithila Parkar and also Meiyang Chang performed their part very well.
