Pickle Vision

Really excellent cinematography and sound design, films takes you on a psychedelic adventure through our relationship with endless media. The sound track builds so perfectly over the course of the whole film, I loved it.

A fun and interesting film, you'll find yourself hooked real fast, it's great.

Lore behind the film was inspiring too, I was lucky enough to see it and have the director do a QA. This whole film is a reminder to get off your butt and stop watching tv. This was also the lead actors first and final film and I was overjoyed to hear how much he enjoyed it, rest in peace Merle Racer!

Mind bending and brilliant. Hilarious and introspective. I have viewed this film 5 times and I wish I could go back and watch it again the very first time to experience the breathless joy and awe I felt. Pickle Vision holds the mirror up to humanity in all its absurdity, and darkness, and finds beauty. You will never see another film like this. The songs will worm their way into your brain, you will find yourself singing the words, or humming a tune. The images are utter perfection, every shot, every angle, every single tiny nuance. It begs to be viewed again and again, every single viewing you can find another angle, another layer, a whispered voice buried under a scream in a song. A film lovers absolute dream!

This short is out there - the Eraser Head of the new millennium. You have to watch and engage, and be willing to take the journey set before you.

I particularly enjoyed the character's initial store run and the first dream sequence of the film...good luck determining dream from reality to figure out what I am referring to. :)

Great visuals and excellent music, this short challenges the viewer to move outside their comfort zone; if you do, you are totally rewarded for your efforts.

If you don't, well I am sure Disney is coming out with part 50 of something more your speed. Ask them to at least clean the spoon first, though.

I'm tempted to write, "How do you review a film about pickles that's bananas?" But that's too cheeky. "Pickle Vision" is like stepping into a universe where it makes sense that music videos and arthouse films and sci-fi adventures collide into new dimension where pickles represent the essence of humanity.

It makes me wish that I had a Time Machine and could sneak into a video rental story, hide a VHS copy of Pickle Vision on their shelves, and start letting strangers come across it and take it home to have their minds blown.

It also amuses me that I have to click that this review contains no spoilers. Can you spoil a painting like Guernica by telling people that Picasso created it out of fury and disgust with Nazi Germany for carpet bombing a town in Northern Spain? Nope. You can't.
