Whew! Should Have Been Called Bad Acting

I was not aware there were three of these movies so I watched this one first. I laughed at how insane and unbelievable the action and acting was. Then I went and watched Bad Ass. Now I really hate this second sequel.

Danny Glover is way past his action days as Roger Murtaugh. The fight scenes are painful to watch as neither Danny Trejo or Glover are in any physical condition to pull off these stunts. The bank fight scene is a prime example. They are so slow in their movements, I could have taken a pee break in the time it took Glover to throw a punch. The plot is silly and I knew the twist almost immediately because it was so poorly disguised.

Having now seen Bad Ass and how great it was and how perfect Trejo was for the character, it disappoints me so much that they tried to turn this into some kind of Lethal Weapon for geriatrics. Maybe they should have called it Geritol Weapon. I can't believe the same director did all three.

Skip the sequels and just watch Bad Ass. Its so much superior to this movie. They really screwed the pooch on this one.

If you haven't seen the last two films (Bad Ass and Bad Asses) you most likely won't enjoy this film

BAD ASSES 3: ON THE BAYOU review by Mike Smith

Frank Vega and Bernie Pope return, this time to Louisiana in an attempt to find a kidnapped friend.

I love the Bad Ass and Bad Asses movies and when I found out that there was a third coming out I was happy. After the first scene, Bad Asses 3: On The Bayou had me smiling from ear to ear. Danny Trejo and Danny Glover are a classic team, they are funny together as ass whooping crotchety old men.

The writing is really well done; this film has the same flow of over the top action, comedy, and overacting fun. Yes this film is predictable and the C.G. is very cheesy but it's a low beget and it adds to the charm. It's unfortunate that these movies are forgettable and a lot of people shy away on this movies because they are not familiar with the franchise or because it's independent. This film has heart which some big movies don't have.

If you haven't seen the last two films (Bad Ass and Bad Asses) you most likely won't enjoy this film. These movies are not to be taken too seriously, sit back, have some fun and laughs. They leave it open for a fourth movie but I think they should have capped the franchise off with this film. Either way you can count on me reviewing the fourth film if so. Bad Asses 3 is another good reason not to always reject independent sequels.

Cheers and remember life won't suck as long as there is a good movie to watch.

Comedy - not a suspense movie or action for the most part

This isn't a typical action movie, it's much more of a comedy movie, so if you're looking for action - go elsewhere. The one liners that get tossed about are funny and yes the acting could use a bit more...but overall enjoyed the movie and definitely did a lot of laughing through it. Glover and Trego never fail to hit the punch line in this movie. I pulled it up on netflix for a 'look-see' if it would be any good or not, and once the show started, it had us watching and laughing throughout. I imagine some of the bad reviews are from people that wanted a serious action film and this one is no where close, it's actually a bit fake in one scene when there's a lot of shooting going on, but again it fits the comedy part of the show.

    Good things come in threes(?)

Well depending on how you liked the first two movies, you can expect to feel the same here. It's not that the movie redefines anything, though there is a change of "scenery". That's nice to see, but how often can you fake and fool criminals in one movie? Even at that age and especially if you consider the "bad guys" to be deadly (or at least they attempt to look like it).

Still Danny Trejo and Danny Glover, the latter who is not too old for flying on a plane and ... well you'll see where I'm heading with this and what might have been written in there to draw him to sign on this movie. It worked and who wouldn't want that to happen on their flight/ride? Exactly. Back to the movie and the action, which is decent, especially if you consider who is playing the characters. There are nice touches (such as the not running thing, which they would be too old for and was one of the worst bits in Taken 3), but overall this is standard procedure.

    Bad Ass 3!? Awesome trilogy!

Machete was not enough for the legendary Danny Trejo, he needed another franchise and he got it with Bad Ass.

Trejo returns as Frank Vega, a badge-less old Mexican version of John McClaine who cleans up his hood the best way he knows how...by kicking bad guy butt.

Joining him once again is "too old for this sh*t", Danny Glover, who proves you don't want to mess with old, cranky and don't give a...

Exploiting her viable (yet small) star power at the moment The Real's Loni Love, who had a small part in the second Bad Ass, becomes the center of attention as the Bad Asses attend her wedding only to have to rescue the bride from a kidnapping.

Changing the scenery of the last two movies from LA, the Bad Asses go to the popular filming location of Louisiana were they bring West Coast Justice to a corrupt small time on the Bayou.

Adding to the Bad Ass family is John Amos as a Vietnam vet trying to live his life as a billionaire pacifist, until the wrong men messed with his family (Just as bass ass as it sounds)

A vast improvement over the other two movies, Bad Asses on the Bayou keeps with the momentum of the popularity of the first two movies and uses a bigger budget just to improve on what has already been done. Unlike Taken 3, it does not try to be better than the b-action movie that started it and which everyone loves. Unlike the Expendables, who are also one step closer to the geriatric home, they did not need over the top theatrical action sequences to prove just because your old, doesn't mean you can't be a Bass Ass.

And nothing says Bad Ass like Danny Trejo. It was a fun ride old men. go check it out.
