Transcending Dimensions

The monk Rosuke has disappeared after receiving instruction from sorcerer Master Honzo; the ghost of the monk's dead girlfriend has contacted assassin Shinno to try to find Rosuke and/or to kill Honzo. However, the musical use of a large conch shell has the effect of moving people to new dimensions, but only if they have followed the proper form and done all the right things, and nobody can say where they might end up - or if they can return.

Well. The above doesn't really convey the basic story here, because it is so completely baffling that no synopsis would serve. There are some very psychedelic visuals, some funny throw-energy-like-a-ball incidents and, well, lots of pseudo-mystical thoughts being expressed mystically. There is a *huge* soundtrack here, and while I think I understand the reasons for it, I found most of the music very off-putting and just too loud. Oh, and add in many many slow-motion shots of people taking one step, then another, and well, I wish the director had been at our screening so he could explain what the heck he was trying to say. Obviously, not for me - my husband loved it, though, so your take may vary.
