Un ex pour Noël

I don't usually watch these movie types (Rom-Com). But it was one of the first new Christmas film I saw and I thought I'd try it. I think a lot of the viewers on here are WAY too critical. It's not some Oscar worthy classic. It's just supposed to be some fun watching. I think the most unfair criticisms are those involving Alicia Silverstone. You do understand she's playing a part, as written, right? Personally I think she looks pretty good. As far as the person who criticized her crooked smile and teeth, I find those 2 aspects of her, particularly cute and endearing. The same smile as in CLUELESS. Lighten up.

I just love that these 2 90s favorite female actresses are staying natural. It's a breath of fresh air to not see female actresses unrecognizable with Botox and plastic faces. Way to go Melissa Joan and Alicia! You give us 90s babies hope! Beautiful scenery and meaningful topics. Love the cast! Cute movie!

Alicia Silverstone is charming in this. Her husband is kind of a greasy haired unshaven guy but he's OK. The story is OK, the acting is good, and the ending is good. I chose this movie because I wanted to see Netflix do Hallmark. My wife LOVES Hallmark. I thought Neflix beat the hell out of Hallmark with this. I had a few tears and laughed a few times, and my mouth just hung open a few times in shock. My wife thought this was about a family going through hard times and she bought it totally. We enjoyed the movie together.

Look, I knew what I was getting into with a Hallmark/Lifetime-type Christmas movie, and I'm OK with that, generally. However, at least in those movies, the actors are TRYING. In 'a merry little Ex-MAS', nearly every performance (except perhaps two) were clearly phoned in. And don't even get me started on the writing. There was absolutely no reason to prolong the story beyond the one hour mark. Well, on the bright side, watching this movie puts me one step closer to canceling my Netflix subscription. I'll sign back up when Bridgerton S4 drops!

Alicia Silverstone is completely unlikable in this. Normally she's cute and quirky and fun but in this movie she's naggy and whiny and miserable. I would divorce her too. And the daughter's boyfriend is over the top weird. I love Harry Potter, but this guy is just... no. The best part about this whole movie are all of the side characters. The grandpas are adorable, Melissa Joan Hart is a good friend and keeps it real as do the people who run cafe. I get trying to have an amicable Christmas with your ex, but this is just stressful to watch and I still have 46 minutes to go. I'm sure it's going to end in some sappy way, but So far this has been the longest 45 minutes of a movie I've ever watched.
