Co-produced by Playing With Time, the original production company behind the Degrassi television franchise. This film has several connections to Degrassi Junior High, which was in development at the time. Rhonda Kristi, who plays the mother, would play Spike's mother in Degrassi Junior High. The daughter, played by Danah Jean-Brown, is named Christine, which is the real name of Spike in Degrassi Junior High; Danah Jean-Brown also appears in Degrassi Junior High, but as the background character Trish.
