Raising the Bar, the Alma Richards Story

This is a great movie... leave it to the Mormons for good ones, have you seen THE FOURTH WISE MAN? Put this on Social media.... We watched a good movie tonight called raising the bar that had Jim Thorpe in it. Have a few photo's of him and Ernie Nevers, Gene's father together. This is a movie about doing well under oppression and opposition. Overcoming demons of hate that live in body's.. he did well. There is a great playlist on youtube called Ernie Nevers playlist.

Brief preamble: there is a lot of history packed into the end during the credits so do be sure to stick around.

That being said this is a wonderful film in the grand tradition of sportsmen overcoming obstacles, literally in this case (the high jump bar).

This is a film firmly rooted in family and faith (in keeping with other productions from these filmmakers) so if you've enjoyed their other films you're guaranteed to like this.

Hollywood doesn't seem to be able to make these kinds of movies anymore so it's reassuring to see people stepping into the gap to provide quality entertainment for the whole family. These movies can still be made and SHOULD be made.

Too bad a quality writer and director didn't take up this true story. The dialog is absolutely boooooring with laughable "conflict." I don't know any Mormons who actually talk like these do. It would be great for a 6 year-old movie night with friends, because it's as clean a movie as I've ever sat through. But I would not recommend it to anyone except as a good example of what not to do. I sat through this terrible film only to see how bad it would actually get. The "cheese" factor is laid on extremely think and I was looking over at my wife constantly during as the dialog continued to miss again and again.

Glad I only paid the price of a ticket at a discount theater.

Another excellent movie from Angel Studios! Well done. Captured my heart the first 5 minutes. Actors were incredible and well chosen. Great inspirational movie. Shows that even those from humble beginnings can raise to greatness with the help of God all things are possible. Bullying is not acceptable in any manner. He almost gave up because of it. Exceptional movie I'll be taking my nieces and nephews to. Great message. Thank you Angel studios.

Great, amazing, wonderful, magnificent, marvelous, extraordinary, gives hope that everything is possible and dreams come true. Must seen!!!! "It was an incredible experience. I was very moved. Two hours spent on an amazing Film. They make you want to wake up the next day and boldly look far beyond the sickness. This is exactly the kind of movie that should be made. Filmed without any fireworks, but the message is clear and forces reflection. It's a beautiful story. Once again, more films with a conservative, traditional, and valuable message, to spread the good news. The best I have ever seen.
