I can see I'm going to have to resist the urge to binge watch this show. It would be so easy to watch all 8 or 9 episodes in a day or two and then sit aching for the final episode of the season that doesn't release until July 11th. If I could just give one bit of advice, maybe binge this show on a rainy day or a too hot day... it is the summer after all.
The second episode did a solid job building on the characters in a way that draws in the viewer. Skarsgard again offers an entertaining performance, though not quite as entertaining as the premiere. The end of the episode leaves the viewer on a cliffhanger that makes you immediately want to watch the next episode.

Ep 2 takes the brilliant premise and cranks up the psychological tension. Murderbot's newfound free will leads to odd behavior, sparking suspicion from the PreservationAux team, and watching our protagonist navigate this minefield is deliciously uncomfortable.
Skarsgård is doing something extraordinary here... playing a character who's trying to act normal while fundamentally not understanding what normal means. Every micro-expression suggests a consciousness desperately trying to compute human expectations while fighting its own programming. It's method acting for the post-human age.
What started as quirky fish-out-of-water comedy is morphing into genuine thriller territory. The team's growing suspicions create a paranoid atmosphere that perfectly mirrors our protagonist's internal state. You can practically feel Murderbot calculating conversation responses in real-time.
The show's real genius lies in making viewers complicit in Murderbot's deception. We're rooting for successful manipulation, which says something rather disturbing about our relationship with authenticity.
This episode proves the series isn't just about robot jokes. It's exploring what happens when artificial intelligence develops anxiety disorders. That's the kind of premise that keeps you awake at night, wondering about your own behavioral algorithms.
Pure psychological sci-fi disguised as workplace comedy.

The producers of this show have greatly extrapolated on the events of the book in a good way. They emphasized the fluidity if gender and relationships quickly in the show whereas the books talked more on it later. This I feel makes the show more generally inclusive along with flexing the elaborate world building of Martha Wells. Additionally, the neurotypical characteristics of murderbot are displaying real world problems in a Sci-fi funny environment that can let people develop sympathy for people who may behave odd like that. It shows a diverse cast with diverse personalities with murderbot being the odd one out. It's really an amazing adaptation of the book; giving us MORE content than the first book provided. I love it, can't wait for more!
