Here's an industrial film about the need and promise of oil. It's produced by John Sutherland, a frequent name in the era for industrial films in animation. Like many of his films, the story it offers has aged. Also, like most of them, it shows a great deal of technical excellence. While theatrical cartoons had a definite market, the sponsors of industrial films -- like this one, basically two-reel commercials -- could simply pay the money in a timely fashion, obviating the need for figuring out how popular a particular movie was going to be. All of the theatrical cartoon producers had divisions that produced industrial films. Sutherland did nothing else.
