Trivia
The original idea was to call the game "Triple Dragon" as the arcade game could be played by three people. Players one and two controlled Billy and Jimmy Lee, with the third player controlling a new character named Sonny (a yellow-clad palette swap of the Lee brothers). The title change idea was scrapped in favor of keeping the franchise name that people knew, although the third player was retained.

Alternate versions
The Japanese version of the video game removed the item shop and instead the weapons could be found lying on the ground throughout the game. Additionally, players could choose which characters to be from the start of the game: the Lee brothers, Urquidez brothers, Chin Brothers, or Oyama brothers.
