Writer, director, Editor James Sunshine has a carnival in his head and he's put it all into this fantastic movie. Centering around an unwitting yet apt female hero, this movie will make you laugh out loud and make you cover your eyes from the horror, all in the same 10 seconds. This movie is very well cast with the likes of Martin Cove, Dermot Mulrooney, and Katie Killiacky, supporting-the breakout performance of actress Sierra McCormick as Mary Sue. This film won best picture at the Los Angeles independent film festival just last month, and I predict we'll be seeing big things from this director in the future. Very well done!
Killing Mary Sue" is a fun, fast-paced movie that's perfect to watch with a group of friends. I saw it in a packed theater during the LA Film Festival and had an absolute blast-can't recommend it enough. The performances are strong across the board, and the writing and editing are sharp, keeping you on the edge of your seat with no dull moments.
If you're expecting a heavy-handed political message, this probably isn't the film for you. But if you're in the mood for something that pokes fun at everyone equally and leans into absurdity purely for entertainment's sake, Killing Mary Sue is right up your alley. I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes more popular as word spreads.

I had the opportunity to watch this movie with an audience and people were laughing and having a good time, it's not a serious movie it's silly and absurd and just entertaining great great performances from all the actors, lots and lots of fun. This film is unique nothing like anything I've seen before from start to finish keeps you interested it's the kind of movie you can watch more than once... happily. The main character who plays Mary Sue Sierra McCormick does a great job as does Martin Kove and Dermont Mulroney and Jake Busey all phenomenal performances and all the actors and actresses whose names you don't know did great jobs as well thoroughly enjoyed and was entertained from start to finish.
The labels used are action, drama, history, and horror. This movie is labeled as everything except what it is, a comedy.
I would say it is in the same genre as John Wick, or possibly Violent Night, each of which I also found to be more funny than anything else.
If you are taking this movie as anything but a comedy, I am worried for you.

What a wild ride! Lol! This movie was creative storytelling + fantastic acting + great niche references ("Stop sweeping my leg!") + dark humor + a couple of hilarious punny names.
Bravo to all involved, in particular Sierra McCormick who killed it (literally and figuratively), Dermot Mulroney who captured the annoyed and aggrieved politician so poetically in this era, and James Sunshine, writer / editor / director. Although the tone of the film does not match his name, it was certainly a BRIGHT and well executed story!!
There is quite a bit of violence (as the name might suggest! Haha!), but my distaste for that is on me, not the film! The humor FAR outweighed the body count! Well done!!!
