Lucie Konásová wrote the first version of the screenplay in 2007. About seven years later, she finally found a suitable producer. In 2015, it seemed that the film would be directed by Václav Vorlícek. However, filming was postponed, and soon another adaptation of the same fairy tale, La princesse promise (2016), was filmed. The producers therefore postponed filming again for several years and gave priority to other projects.
