    A Sad Episode

The episode revolves around Penny getting a small part on NCIS but having her scene left on the cutting room floor. This leads to Leonard using his brutal honesty to screw things up as she suffers. Raj and Stuart decide to try just talking to people but even that is a failure. And Sheldon is told he's not funny and he begins to research humor. It ends with a very sad Leonard who has made a possible mistake.

"The Hesitation Ramification" ep of "The Big Bang Theory" is another fine one of its kind

In this recent ep of "The Big Bang Theory": Penny is excited about her part in the "CSI" series and tells her friends about it. Sheldon gets hung up on his "laugh-making" skills (he doesn't have one, get it?). Raj and Stuart try to make conversations at strangers in a mall in order to prepare for socialization with women. I'll stop there and just say not only is there plenty of laughs in this one but there is also something of a dramatic arc concerning Leonard and Penny that is not resolved quickly so it will continue to the next one. I got a kick out of Sheldon trying to determine what is funny and I also liked Bernadette's laugh which references a certain scene in a certain movie. So on that note, "The Hesitation Ramification" ep of "The Big Bang Theory" is another gem of an episode.

    Well,what they say about humor....

...is that analyzing a joke is like dissecting a frog.Eventually, you'll get it,but the frog dies at the end.Well,I've seen all TBBT episodes.Compared to this, some are incredibly funny, and well, some are not.The storyline is this,Sheldon aims to become funny,by analyzing humor,in general and Raj and Stuart try to be less awkward.Penny gets a role in a TV Show, but unfortunately, her scene doesn't make the cut. There is a twist at the end,I won't spoil it for you.

But the real reason why I decided to write about this week's episode is that vanity card at the end. Here,Chuck Lorre apologizes to a actress named Lexie Contrusi because they had to cut her scene, since it was making the episode run long. This a really wonderful gesture and not many people in show business do that. You don't see something like this everyday. Kudos,Mr Lorre, you are a great talent,no doubt, but reading today's Vanity card,my respect for you has increased twice fold.

    The Hesitation Ramification

Penny has been a largely underused character so far in the seventh series, so it was nice to see her do a bit more here, rather than just have Kaley Cucco sit in a chair and do a good Jennifer Aniston impression.

It's not a great episode though, with none of the plots really clicking for me. It has its moments, don't get me wrong, but there wasn't the emotional connection in the final moments of the Penny/Leonard plot, and I'd rather this have been developed and less time spent on the other two weaker ones. The Raj one in particular was pretty poor.

Overall, another fine but not stellar episode.

    • Trivia
Amy complains about Sheldon using science on jokes, particularly stating how hard it is to laugh at a joke that starts with "knock, knock, knock Amy," "knock, knock, knock Amy," "knock, knock, knock Amy.'" In The 21-Second Excitation (2010), however, Sheldon uses only the standard "knock knock" prelude.
    • Goofs
In the introduction, when everyone except Amy is looking at their smart phones, Sheldon points out that thanks to Steve Jobs, people no longer have the chore of having to talk to each other at communal meals. However, in The Alien Parasite Hypothesis (2010), he is of the opposite opinion, and says "Isn't the point of a communal meal the exchange of ideas and opinions, the opportunity to consider the important issues of the day?"

      Sheldon Cooper: Can't sleep?

      Leonard Hofstadter: No.

Sheldon Cooper: Would you like to talk about it?

Leonard Hofstadter: Penny proposed, and I didn't say yes.

      Sheldon Cooper: Why not?

Leonard Hofstadter: That's a good question.

Sheldon Cooper: Does that mean the relationship is over?

      Leonard Hofstadter: I don't know.

Sheldon Cooper: Why don't you ask her?

Leonard Hofstadter: Because I'm afraid to know the answer.

      Sheldon Cooper: Well... I'm sorry.

Leonard Hofstadter: That's it? You're not going to make some dumb joke or some inappropriate comment?

Sheldon Cooper: No. You're my friend and... I'm sorry.

      CHUCK LORRE PRODUCTIONS, #436

This vanity card is dedicated to a very pretty and very talented young actress named Lexie Contursi. Let me explain. In tonight's episode of "The Big Bang Theory," Penny struggles emotionally when her small guest role on "NCIS" is cut. In an unrelated story, which oddly became very related, Koothrappali and Stuart go to a shopping mall with a plan to talk to unattractive strangers in order to build up their confidence with attractive girls. Almost immediately they are approached by a beautiful young woman, played by Lexie, who asks them for directions to a coffee shop. Sadly, or hopefully, comically, they run from her because they've yet to do the grunt work of talking to regular-looking folks. And here's where the two stories intersect. We had to cut it in order to get the episode down to the required running time. Penny gets cut. Lexie gets cut. One is make believe. One is real. Which is why I wanted to take this opportunity to tell Lexie, and all her friends and relatives, that she nailed the part. Just nailed it. The fact that it did not appear in tonight's episode had absolutely nothing to do with her performance. So, on behalf of everyone at "The Big Bang Theory," I'd like to extend a heartfelt apology to Lexie Contursi, and assure her that we will try to find a way to get her back on the show. Of course an even better resolution would be if she became a big movie star and got to tell David Letterman the funny story of the time she had one stupid line in a sitcom and it got cut. It happens, Lexie. Ask Sharon Stone about the time she didn't get the part of Paul Reiser's girlfriend on "My Two Dads."
