I was not expecting this show to bring the joke-a-second hilarity that it did. Adults somehow manages to balance uproarious laughs with heartfelt warmth. Where has this cast been hiding? The chemistry is electric. Samir and Paul Baker are stand outs. This is a comedy that hits its stride and never looks back, with a group of characters that is easy to love. My biggest complaint is I wish we got longer episodes to really spend time with this group of misfits. If you're looking for a show that captures our moment I highly recommend FX's Adults. It feels like Friends meets Always Sunny. A must watch.
I think so many sitcoms are pitched now as being "like Friends for Gen Z" but it's hard to find a show that actually understands what made Friends so captivating. I found Adults to be laugh out loud funny and it truly felt like it was written by people in their 20s who understand what it's like to be entering adulthood in this decade. Most importantly, I think it really captured friendships and the kind of odd groups you often find yourself in right out of college. I think this show will really find its footing in the next seasons and we'll begin to feel really attached to the characters. I put it on expecting to just watch a few episodes but I ended up binging the whole thing.
This show is FUN. It's for the gen z twenty-something's and the hate for it feels really forced. The hate for this show must be coming from a place of not relating to the new generation. Adults is a modern raunchy friend-group comedy that's such an easy and enjoyable watch. It's about figuring it out and having your found family there backing you up. I was laughing out loud (which is rare for me.) The characters aren't necessarily good people or the best friends to each other but their flaws/antics are relatable and make for a funny group dynamic. I really hope this does not become a victim of first season cancellation.
ADULTS is an easygoing comedy that plays charitably with Gen Z tropes without having to resort to generational barb slinging. It's full of cute and genuine moments but never forgets that it's a comedy at heart with a youthful sort of optimism that lingers throughout each episode. There's plenty of laughs and a nice assortment of personalities to enjoy (what a great cast).
There's also only 8 episodes out for this first drop, and for me, well, it was over too soon (a rewatch is in my future). So, in conclusion, I definitely wouldn't complain if it got a second season, and I really hope it does.

I feel like this show gets gen z humor a little more than just "errrrm phones!" like a lot of shows have been doing for awhile. Made me genuinely laugh out loud a lot. Be forgiving, be nice, at least it's something new! I think in episode 3 it was at peak performance and hilarious - I like all of the actors. The only gripe is they clearly filmed in Canada and are failing to pass it off as New York. That's a tall order for such a recognizable city. I have to hit the character limit but I don't have more to say. Just support more shows that aren't shameless remakes please it's getting dire out here.
