When a documentary filmmaker ends up enchanted by the group of misfits who find their souls and a sense of home every year as Ren Fest players it changes her life. By emphasizing the themes of art and creativity and freedom and belonging and respect and family and choice this is a film that touches a chord in all of us. Most of the characters are by turns funny, empathetic, nuanced. From the "most talented performer in this town" to the all and sundry players you would find at a Renaissance Festival (bards, troubadours, pirates, mermaids, wenches, knights ) this cast is a joy. Truly a local labor of love and sweet showcase of local talent. Highly recommend.
