So so episode. Raylan next love interest is just another bird with a broke wing he's trying to mend. Tight, witty dialogue as usual, but Michael Rapaport's attempt at a backwoods accent is just piss poor. Really starting to wear on me.
I have lived about an hour's drive from Harlan, KY my whole life. I look out my window and see trees that crest the mountain and end on the other side in Harlan County. The trees I see are deciduous like maples, poplars, oaks, sycamores and only a handful of them are evergreen. The reason we have people come from every state down to our area in fall, is to see all the leaves change color. The fact that they are filming in an old growth pine forest just hurts my feelings. There aren't many amazing things about Kentucky that draw people here. The Kentucky Derby, the gorgeous nature and Jennifer Lawrence is about it.
The episode was great on the other hand. I always like that Justified seems to reinvent the wheel with itself each season. The first season and the last season are two different animals completely. Raymond and Boyd seem to always find a way to get involved with whatever fiasco is going on. The story seems subdued compared to a lot of shows out there. It seems like events that very well could happen. You take for granted how good the writing is when you don't notice any major things going on, but yet you're still compelled to watch it each week. This episode is no exception.

I came to IMDB because of the filming location of the pine forest which looks like it was filmed about 15 miles from my house here in So Cal...then I read this comment...

I was thinking KY looked an awful lot like Pine Mountain...and it was most likely filmed about an hour or more from Hollywood to save $$...so I appreciate this comment that it was NOT KY.

First episode of this season where everything's really clicking, 'Over the Mountain' is a massively entertaining blend of drama and pure comedy. Drama in the sense that Art's getting closer to nailing Raylan's role in the Nicky Augustine murder, and comedy in . . . pretty much everything else. Dewey and Wade spend a night in the woods on a murder gone terribly wrong (and just sad) and a great deal of the killer one-liners stem from that. And those lines are sprinkled throughout the entire cast. It's a scream.

Wondering how things would fare after Dutch passed, they seem to have picked it up. Wordplay is plenty sharp.
Any show willing to make Patton Oswalt the hero for a spell is alright in my book.
Still looking for some interview with James LeGros - has to be quite the hoot for him to be playing opposite his old role.
Natalie Zea needs to hitch her wagon to this and The Following, not Under The Dome.
Filed under "odd": are we supposed to believe Ava would have a Star Wars Ep IV reference at the ready?
The pint sized Crowe is up to something. It'll be fun to find out just what.

- TriviaAn intact male dog was cast as Danny's large mastiff, Chelsea. Writer Taylor Elmore and actor Timothy Olyphant improvised Raylan's line, in which he observes, "Chelsea's got a big set of balls on her."
- GoofsAfter Messer's body is found, the A.U.S.A. says that a .32 caliber slug was removed from the body. However the pistol Dewey used was a Colt Mustang .380 ACP. In fact when Dewey is shown holding the pistol, pointed at Messer, a close-up of the pistol clearly shows "CAL .380" stamped on the breach end of the barrel.
