... this show was creative-fun & the entire cast in top form... it could have easily gone on another season or more... w-all the crap now on TV.. taking away one of the better romantic-comedies was very disappointing for all its numerous fans.
For the last few years I have been watching lots of shows from other countries. I am so bored with Hollywood's dreadful sitcoms with those horrible laugh tracks, stereotype characters and story lines. For every Modern Family, there is 100 crap shows. Anyway- I am impressed with Step Dave. They managed to address real life topics, dating, age, work, divorce, love, kids, with humor but they do not go for cheap laughs. The writers actually write real life situations. Topics and things that my friends and I have dealt with. Dating younger guys, kids, divorce, Grandparents, and friends. I like the cast. I think they are talented and a good ensemble. I am not crazy about the mean sister character and her husband, they could do with less time and story, Dave's jerky roommate is annoying and shallow, but overall the show works. The only thing that drives me mad about NZ/Australia shows is it seems like they do not give shows much of a chance. Update: the show is getting even better as it goes on. I am very impressed with the relationships and how this show presents things. I hope they get a second season! Update-They got a second season! I am so glad. I really like this show. Update: It made it to 3 seasons and it just got better. I am so bummed they canceled it.

What an INCREDIBLE show! I laughed, I cried, it had everything!!! The acting didn't feel like acting. It was so real, you just felt like a part of this family. Jono was OMGGGGGG so GREAT!!!! He's, simply put, PERFECTION. The entire cast was BRILLIANT! I am SOOOO sad it's over, but SOOOO happy I watched!
Don't let its two season run put you off, 'Step Dave' is definitely one of the best drama series to have come out of New Zealand!
'Step Dave' centres on Dave, a 24 year old barman who sleeps around and loves to party. He is a down to earth kiwi bloke. Cara is a 39 year old single mother of three, who owns her own business and tries to resist her sister's attempts to set her up on dates.
A chance meeting leads to the collision of two very different worlds and a night of bonding during a three hour wait at an A&E clinic. Dave and Cara find that they can't stop thinking about each other and meet up again, only to discover that they have a 15 year age gap. Their relationship surely couldn't work, could it?
Step Dave is a lighthearted romantic comedy with a perfect range of supporting characters. The series is well written and an enjoyable watch and it is interesting to see the development of not only Dave and Cara as their relationship progresses but also of their friends and family. A highly recommended watch.

I just have to say how much I love the New Zealand accent. I initially thought this show would be cheesy and just silly, but I gave it a shot, and ended up watching both seasons in 2 days. It's light-hearted, well-acted, and has lots of attractive people. Too bad there weren't more seasons.
