This first adaptation of Georges Simenon's novel "Le locataire" started filming on the 9th of August 1939 but the shooting was halted at the declaration of WW2 on the 3rd of September. Apparently, it was finished in April 1940 but was never released and the negative was destroyed in a lab fire, making this a lost movie.
