Umi Ishihara is a Japanese avant-garde filmmaker. House of Psychic was inspired by the story of her own mother, a fashion designer in Tokyo, who had turned to selling power stones and spiritual material and who became transfixed by the power of psychics during a difficult transition in her life. An award winning artist, Umi Ishihara has also directed campaign videos for Louis Vuitton led by the late Virgil Abloh and other brands including Nike, Adidas, Kenzo and Levis.
